Hymer S800
Hello, Motorhome Hymer S800 with Reich II control unit, when I turn on the display it tells me: "battery sense input disconnect" my doubt comes from this cable that I show you in the picture and which is black but protected by fuse, probably that is the cable which should go on the + of the services battery? Thanks

The battery sense wire is a thin wire that runs right next to the much thicker main current-carrying wire from the battery. Because the main wire carries a large, varying current, there will be a small varying voltage drop along it.

To get an accurate battery voltage reading, this small wire carrying almost no current is wired next to the main wire, and is used to measure the battery voltage, and nothing else. It is often protected by a small fuse, maybe 2A or 5A, next to the main battery fuse. There is often also a similar sense wire on the negative terminal as well, because there is just as much voltage drop along the main negative battery wire. If either of these sense wires becomes disconnected, or the fuse blows, or gets a bit corroded, then the distribution box can't sense the battery voltage so causes all kinds of problems.

thanks for the reply, the wire in question is certainly the one I found in the x2 terminal block and in fact it is protected by a 2A fuse, I was concerned with connecting it to the battery positive because it is black and black is usually dedicated on 12v systems to the negative, so do you think that is the cable to connect to the services battery positive?

I would certainly not use the colour of the wire as any indication of its use. True, black is often used for negative battery wires, but on my Hymer for example all the negative wires are brown, and in fact the leisure battery main positive wire to the distribution box is black. The one to the starter battery is red.

If it's got a fuse on it, it will more likely be going to the battery positive. Negative wires won't have a fuse on them.
