Nothing new there they have been doing that for quite a few years. It's not the payload they are quoting it is just an example of loading. I notice on that one they don't include a passenger. I've got some old brochures where they did remember the passenger. :D

See lots of missing items

Passenger(s)

Fuel

Gas tank weights, not just 15kg for gas

AdBlue tank and contents

Full cassette and dirty water - we cannot all dump every day.

Bicycles

Inverter

Levelling blocks

Spare weel

Food, wine, beer, storage jars and contents

Kitchen equipment, plates, mugs, glasses, cutlery.

Books, maps, laptop, chargers etc.

Do these marketing people go out and use MHs in the real world?

The manufacturers are starting to realise they are really up against the 3500kg wall, but cannot really get over it without fudging, or cutting into build quality.

N&B told me straight recently - 'We do not build a <3500kg MH'

I wonder if Thor Industries new the 3500kg restrictions when they bought Hymer Group?

But at least a full water tank and some of the extras that a lot of folk would not allow for I think at least Hymer are trying to give a better idea of what can be added but I still think you need the heavier chassis (over 3500kg) to give that bit more capacity as 102kg spare isn’t much.?

The problem isn't just the overall weight but the axle loading ... unless they give you details of each individual axle weight BEFORE they include anything else it is pretty meaningless, you may be below the overall weight but over on the rear axle for example, if that's the case they you can kiss your e-bikes goodbye!

Our last van was an Exsis i678, rear axle loading was borderline as the water tank was behind the read axle. We don't go anywhere without a full water tank.

Exactly my point ... the front of our freshwater tank is located just ahead of the rear axle with the rear end pretty much sitting over it ... it takes 150 litres!

When we went to the weighbridge (not fully loaded but near enough to get a feel for it) we had about 70 litres of water in and the rear axle load was a little bit toooooo close for comfort so we've been redistributing some of the heavy stuff from the rear to the front/centre to ensure we don't overload the rear axle. It surprising just how much some stuff weighs, for example our tinned food, dog food, lemonade, cordials, electrical leads & kit, awning tie down kit, pegs, hammer, tool box/tools etc, are probably over 40kg. Moving these forward means we won't have to worry about the fridge contents or clothes which along with some AV stuff (tablet, laptop etc) were missing. The dogs weren't in either but when we're travelling they're at the front with us anyway so near the front axle which has loads of capacity to spare.

At least Hymer are having a stab at informing the customer that there is a thing called payload. :)
True but it would be much better if they gave more accurate information as some will just see the overall payload figure and think they're okay not realising about the axle loadings ... now if they mentioned them as well I'd give them 10 house points!

Another problem with the Exsis was it only had a 100 Lt tank so I carried a couple of 20 Lt containers of water in the garage.

I think you could do without some of these but not a flipping passenger oh and a dog or two!

Have to admit when we bought our first motorhome me and hubby didn’t have a clue about payloads (I am presuming dealer didn’t either as he didn’t mention it :giggle: ). Only realised after joining this forum!

Do you REALLY want to be weighing toilet role, what the hell is going on, firstly people get lied to by salesmen and sold Sub standard motorhomes and feel they are lucky to be handing over their hard earned money, THEN spend the rest of their life worried sick the extra pasty might make them overweight (not eating it, I mean it’s weight ?), I actually think there is some hypnotism that goes on or people leave their brains at home. Anyway it didn’t happen to me, I now have the perfect motorhome for my needs ?

(fingers crossed)

Is the driver included in the MIRO figure ?? adding all the figures in the column to the LADEN MASS it comes to the same figure but states incl driver. When did they weigh me ??

Normally a driver is shown as 75kg, not me ?
