Hi,Has anybody the actual colour for the Hymer grey they use for bumpers and mudguards please.It is a 2003 A class 644 if that helps.Many thanks.

On some makes the bumpers are plastic not GRP and there is no paint or gel coat code. Plastic fades with time.

Hmmmm , how long have ya got ! .

It rather an immotive question , but i think , the honest truth is , no one really knows . Hymer themselves will not release the correct paint code , though it has been hinted it's actually a Citroen colour .
I've been looking into this recently , and the consensus on this forum is ; the front bumper is a different shade to the rear , and just to make life interesting , both are a different shade to the sides . You can take that as you may ! .
So what did i gleen
  • Front , is an BMW salmon silver , metallic , RAL9007 .
  • Sides , are Citroen Gris Dolmen , NCS S 7000-N .
At this point i gave up , however i have read the actual colour is ;
  • Hymer Graumetallic , A9233 .
Now i'll be honest here , i've never tried it , but apparently this code won't show up on any mixing list . Even Hymer have had some input in this debate via a fun member , by recommending ;
  • RAL7039 ,
similar to ;
  • Standox A9233 , ( notice the code ) .
or ;
  • Volvo 357 .
So what do i conclude from all this , honest truth , i dunno ! . I think there could be a degree of paint fade involved here , which will give different results . I've recently had my van body paint analized , and believe it or not , it came up as a Chrysler white , go figure ! .
I'm shortly , gonna be embarking on this particular exercise , myself . Both front spats and bumper , i'm currently in the process of repairing the off side spat , but all need attention . When i do finally get to paint , it looks like a case of pick one .
And that's all it will be ONE , i ent playing silly games , with different shades . That's a mugs game ! .

Sorry , it's not definitive answer , but that's the best i can do .

It’s not difficult if you have a grey on your bumpers that you are happy with. Our bumpers were in need of repair, so we used a spectrometer to get a match on the original paint. Spectrometers are still quite expensive but if you can find a car paint supplier like LKQ who I know have them getting a good colour match is straightforward. Once you have the colour sorted then the hard work starts.

Dam Crazy , your van looks even better in them pictures mate , especially the last one with the reflection at the back . I remember you doing the job originally .
Now i quite agree , mate . With the age of mine , i don't feel the need to keep it totally original , so to speak . I just like the colour , and want to get the something similar . Just so happens , the original is the best place to start .
But there is a lot of confusion over which colour it actually is . I came across a couple of german forums , discussing the very same issue . Actually , it's quite a hot potato over there too , but the end result was exactly the same , they didn't know either . Hence my saying , no one actually knows . One owner , even took a cover to be analyzed , and the result was inconclusive , with no colour match found .
I did come across an interesting post , where it was said , the front and rear bumper covers , were made by separate external companies to Hymer , and he suggested the colour was mixed throughout the moulding . Now i got to be honest , i'm not seeing that in my bumper , and one reply to the post also said the same thing . However , if there was some kind of coating they used , that could explain the variation .
To be honest , i've left it alone for now , i've got quite enough on my plate at present . Pretty much all the external plastic has damage of one kind or another , so i'm tending to that . I've learnt to weld plastic , and right now , i'm finessing that new found learning . I've already repaired the inner wing , which i pretty much had to cut out , and have started on the off side spat , which was damaged a couple of years ago , coming off the levelling ramps in Cornwall . I also found a crack in the moulding , along with broken fixing tabs and a hole , which i know i put in . I'm not so sure about the tabs , because the other side has the same thing , and there are aluminium plates fitted to keep the spat from falling off , it's also cracked . I've repaired the offside spat , including the tabs , and to be honest , i'm quite chuffed with the results so far . The repair to date has cost about 130 quid , for the welder and other tools plus an etching primer , but excluding top coat , where i know i could source a painted replacement for 180 . But if you spread that over four spats and a front bumper , that actual repair will come down to much less . But we shall see , i guess .
