I was made aware of the road wheel spray issue on our B544 because after a drive in the rain the step (just behind the wheel) was wet and dirty. I was more concerned about the step motor though when I made up and fitted a mud flap. Best now do the same on the nearside!

Good luck with the repair Jim, I'm sure you will do a first class job!

A Woosh bang
Update..

applied two coats of Ronseal Wood rot hardener yesterday.. when I felt it today it was solid..

So went ahead and filled with the Ronseal two part epoxy wood filler..

needs a bit of smoothing down.. then painting Hammerite underbody sealer.. which I will also apply to all the rear end woodwork..

quite pleased with the result.. it is rock hard.. had to work fast, working time is only about 10 - 15 mins.. felt it going 'off' soon after applying.. it set hard in 30 mins ..

reminded me of working with fibreglass resign.. has the same smell ..

yes.. I thought it would have had more sarcastic comments.. but it's early days ..
Wont sink that low Jim..unlike certain Hymer owners do when discussing slight condensation on the mighty Swift or Autotrail range of superbly British built motorhomes . ..haha... But on a serious side do good that bonding stuff works , just in case ..ya knows.... Roy

I once had a mark 2 cortina that was mostly filler but never heard it called pug.
Maybe it's a Sussex expression ?

I too can recommend the hardner stuff you paint on rotten wood. It won't restore much strength but it will seal it and stop the rot. Then another bit of ply over the top perhaps?
Hi DBK
Sorry to trawl an old thread, but what is the stuff you are referring to that you paint on the wood and sets hard please.
Might, say might, have a very small job in need.
Thanks in anticipation 👍👍🤗

Cap'n, the hardener I used was Ronseal. I then used a primer before filling and finishing off with a plastic wood filler. It is strong stuff when set.

HTH,

Jock. :)

Hi Jock
Hope you enjoying Peterborough.
Is that Ronseal wood hardener or ?
Has it got an actual product name please?
For an example, like, Hammerite ( generic term used for a type of paint giving a metallic finish). That sort of thing.
Thanks.
Iain

Cheers,

Jock. :)
