One of the Humax boxes in the house has stopped working. I’m thinking of replacing it with a Firestick so that I can use it in the Motorhome as well. Two questions please.

In the Motorhome can I use it on a hotspot, or will I need something extra.

There seems to be different Firesticks, will a basic one be ok. I do have Amazon Prime. I have had a smart tv at home for 3 years, but still haven’t mastered it.

Thanks.

You can use a smartphone's hotspot

The newest generation of Firesticks are similar in usage. The older HD Firesticks were sluggish in the menus - fixed in 2020 and 4K versions.
But with sale prices on often, the 4K Firesticks are the better options.

Probably, but it depends. If you have a TV in your MoHo, which has both an HDMI port and a USB port to power the Firestick, it will be easy….. plug and play. Of course unlike the Humax you can only use the Firestick with internet access and you can not record programmes as you probably do with your Humax. If your TV screen is a modest size and you do not want HD, the basic Firestick will be fine and have the advantage of using less data when you are away using your data allowance on your hotspot. However, if you want to stream in HD or UHD on a suitable TV at home where you may have unlimited high speed broadband you will need a more expensive Firestick.

You mention that you have a smart TV at home. You should be able to connect this to your home WiFi router and stream all of the TV stuff you can get with a Firestick……. And you will not need yet another remote controller to change what you watch.

Thank you.
We have an Oyster so use in the Motorhome will mainly be windy conditions, or a quick catch up. At home it will be for the kitchen tv. So it sounds like basic will be ok.
