I intend to fit a maxxair fan to my 2020 motorhome.
Can anyone tell me best way to power it?
When you start the engine the control panel switches off so if I wanted to use it when driving there would be no point connecting it to that. (Does anybody else use it when driving?) Or am I better running a separate cable direct from the leisure battery?

I sometimes keep mine open during driving, but don’t power it, as it naturally works due to the vehicle’s movement

Mine is wired in to the vans 12v supply, there is almost certainly one nearby.
I was fortunate in that the Maxxair replaced an aircon unit and the guys were able to run a cable through to a 12v supply where the 240v cable came out into the wardrobe!

If you dive with the fan in the open position but turned off and your dash vents or window cracked open you will get just as much airflow through the maxxair due to the pressure differential, I would strongly suggest not running a maxxair on "in" mode while driving it would be working against the natural flow of air.

Cheers

Don't run ours whilst in motion...but we do leave it on when away from van...
I wired it into the 12v circuit.... incredible piece of kit....we sleep with ours running, makes a comfortable night during the Spanish summer, Spring and Autumn..🤔🇪🇦😭

Thanks for the great replies.
Even though the power switches off when driving I think I will connect it to the 12v from the panel.
The advice is that I will get plenty of extraction when driving without it switched on anyway.
Just got to find a 12v feed behind the panel now!!

I fitted one to our Adria Matrix at the weekend, which happened to have some conduit up to the roof light already in the roof. I couldn't see where it exited the roof, so had to measure precisely and drill a hole into it inside a cupboard - worked out well.
