We are currently in Spain and are planning to go to Morocco for 3 months.
My question is, if we spend say 70 days in Schengen before the ferry to Morocco, can we return into Spain after 90 days and use our last 20 days? Then start another 90 day stay.
We will have only been in Schengen for 90 from the start of our first 180. So can we jump straight into our next 180?

There are several 'Schengen Calculator' apps available either on line or downloadable to your phone

You need to be aware that there are 365 separate 180 day periods every year.

Until you recognise that fact you will not be able to ascertain the legitimacy of your plans. Alternatively, use one of the online calculators/Apps to plan your incursions.

As has been pointed out, it’s a rolling 180 days.

It’s straightforward. If you want to spend tomorrow in the Schengen area, count backwards 180 days and if you’ve already spent 90 days within the 180 days to date in Schengen, you can’t legally go, or stay there.

Like others on here, I use a Schengen calculator app on my phone.

No , as it is a rolling 180 .you would have to use the remaining 20 plus another 70 then leave
I believe this is incorrect , if you have spent 90 days out of Schengen your 90/180 resets and you can stay another 90. Get an App !

Thanks, I have got an app and looked at the EU calculator and I reckon if we are our for 90 days in Morocco, then we can then return for a further 90. Not that we would push it to 90, just in case.🙂

Downloaded the 90 day app while in Spain last month to check dates for 2024, afterward I inserted this years dates out of curiosity

and was surprised to see our ferry home was on the 89th day so yes it pays to use one of the free apps.
