How many miles/kilometres do you tend to average when traveling?
[Edit: per day. Just out of interest. We're new to this and are thinking we'll budget about 100km per day for a meander through Germany and France]

Ah, if travelling to the south of France then it’s a very max of 400k. If in Britain I try and keep it to about 150miles.

No targets in France, but never more than 5 hours driving, so maximum 200 miles per day.
I am retired, I have a Motorhome, never in a hurry........................(y)

Very ambiguous question. All on FUN are different in how we travel in our vans. When I started motorhoming I felt the desire to drive every day. Now it varies from 0 to approx 250 but not everyday. We could be static for a few days. Don’t rush take it easy and enjoy your van and the places you visit.

We're never in a rush to get anywhere, so anything from 1hr to 3 hrs..

We set out on the first year doing long distances to 'get there' wherever we had planned to go. Met a fellow motorhomer in France 18 month later, not a funster, who convinced us the journey was as much of the break as getting to a specific place. Shortest we have done is about 50K longest was from near Madrid to Benicarlo, 7hrs drive I did about 2/3 John the rest, because it was raining and we preferred to spend a week in the sun rather than cold and rain, befor catching the ferry.
Take your time it is so relaxing.

When heading for somewhere 100-200 miles if pushed 300. Don't have a set amount if we find an interesting town we stop.
Once in an area can be just 5 miles to the next Aire.
Same here. Total flexibility. It's one of the attractions (abroad) of a m/h vs a caravan or pre-booked hotel accommodation.

Can be as much as 400miles or as little as 15. Generally I reckon a max of 250miles as then I am early enough to find a place for the night and look round the local town/village.
Edit. This is on the continent. In the UK about 60miles to the tunnel.

If we have a definite destination ( such as Benidorm for the winter ) a minimum of 300 miles but usually closer to 400..
Meandering.. we go until we stop ! could be 20 miles , could be 200

Longest drive is always to the tunnel, then stay at a favourite Aires for one or two days then onto the next Aires, some a couple of hours away some half an hour down the road. Never in a rush.

We don't measure in miles or KM but time. We rarely travel for more than an hour and usually less. We also rarely have any plan in place and just meander.

Correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick but if by "budget" you mean the average cost per day, then you'll need to work out how many miles in total you expect to do, divide it by the number of days you are away then apply that figure to your own vehicles mpg. Then you'll need to know fuel prices in the various places/countries you visit.

But if you mean intended driving per day, then there are too many variables - like many others we just drive for our own enjoyment maybe 20km or maybe 350km. The only times we "budget" in this respect are if we've got a long distance to travel over a certain time, for instance, returning from Morocco in the spring. We learned this on our very first European trip - after 10 days driving we realised all we'd seen was tarmac!

Yeah perhaps it was too vague a question. Because we've never been on the road for weeks at a time we've been thinking we'd like to meander and I wanted to get a sense of how others travel. Unfortunately it's more of a "how long is a piece of string" type question.

We'll start off assuming we'll average 100km a day and speed it up or slow it down accordingly if that doesn't work.

Thanks for your input, everyone. :)
