I have a 2024 Ducato with the 9 auto, led drl's and halogen driving lights and I don't understand how to turn off the lights. I mean when the engine is running, I'm not moving and don't want the dipped beam to light.

I have this:

On the auto mode, on bright daylight the DRL's turn on when I switch on the ignition and the dipped beam turn ons if it gets darker.

On the other mode, I get the dipped beam the same moment I turn on the ignition.

In the manual it says "NOTE When the engine is started for the first time with gear in position P (for versions with automatic transmission) or with the parking brake applied, the daytime running lights stay off. The daylight running lights will come on by removing the parking brake or shifting the gear to a position other than P." but doesn't work for me. Just once have I noticed the lights (I don't remember if it was the DRL or dipped, just that something turned on) went on the same moment I switched from P, but it's possible it just got darker at the same moment and the lights went on because of that.

In the manual it says also "NOTE With the Start&Stop system active, the daylight running lights are always on" but if it's dark I get the dipped beam on instantly when I turn the ignition, no use disabling S&S before starting.

From the diagram you've shown you can't as there's no "off" position for the headlights. They're either on all the time or are on auto and will come on when it gets gloomy.

A safety feature they will probably claim as it means you will have headlights and just as importantly rear lights on when visibility is poor. Stops folk just relying on their drls when it's tipping it down.

Well in the manual it still says "no lights before moving the gear from P" so based on that there should be an option to run the engine without lights so they're not THAT afraid of people driving black.

Put it in P and start it. see what happens.
I thought mine were broken once. (In P and engine running)
Move out of P and voila
