Hi all

I hope someone can answer my query for me, I purchased a New 2020 Swift 694 MH with a Euro 6D 140bhp engine registered on the 6th March 2020 so its subject too the Higher VED rate yearly of £465 which I accepted before purchasing.
However since then the decision has been reversed from the 12th March 2020 and these same Euro 6D engine MHs will be £265 VED per year.
My question therefore is, will my MH revert back to the reduced VED rate or will it remain the same higher rate which does seem unfair if that's the case, if it doesn't revert back is there anything I can do ? write to DVLA ?

Thanks in anticipation

As I understand it, you're stuck with it as you fell into the period before the rate was changed.

But bear in mind that the new rates, although on the face of it a "win" for the industry, are to be aligned with new light goods vehicle emissions related tax bands being introduced next year and so may increase considerably from next April, so you might find your current rate is a blessing in disguise.

No amnesty if registered before the budget so you are stuck with it, also you paid over 2 grand on first registration instead of the normal 55 quid.

Fortunately I didn't pay any of it because it was part of an NEC deal Swift had on at the time back in November when I put a deposit down.

You still paid for it as without the increased VED the price would have been £2.5 k less.

Our Invoice showed minus £2,135 therefore our MH cost that much less than the advertised on the road brochure price and the same MH today is the same price has I paid plus £245 VED so more than I've paid ? I'm only out of pocket going forward ?

It will be in there somewhere as long as you got a good discount and are happy. Hope you paid a lot less than the brochure price, I expect at least 15% discount on a new van.
