Hi, Has anyone travelled through France to Spain this week. Are there hold ups with the fuel protesters if so is it best to take the motorways or stick to the N roads?

Can only report from what i have read on various Facebook groups.
It's all 50/50 if you get held up and it could be anywhere..
The North seem's more active than the south.
Some have posted 30 min delays and all friendly others up to 4 hours..

Think they burned the toll booths on one Motorway
Motorway, N roads and even some minor roads were affected..

At least with a motorhome you can have a brew and a sandwich while waiting.. (y)

Safe travels.

It seems that the protests are destined to continue for a while yet. All week there have been groups of GJs at the large roundabouts and junctions slowing up traffic. It is all good humoured and vehicles that have been held up are tooting their horns in support of the GJs. On Friday all the school kids of the lycees throughout the region were manning the blockades, playing music, dancing and handing out sweets to motorists they had stopped.

I was out yesterday and the GJs had closed off the main roundabout in town centre and were only letting a few cars through at a time. The Gendarmes were in attendance and also at all the other roundabouts there were Gendarmes but no GJs. I am guessing that they are allowing them limited protests and not allowing them to take over all the junctions. There was also a large rally in town. Almost everyone had a yellow vest on. This really has become a national protest and can't really be ignored.

Anyone travelling through France in the next week or so would be advised to avoid going through large towns especially on a weekend. Motorways seem to be clear at the moment. I don't think that the toll booths will be affected, but the access roundabouts certainly will be affected.

Bon Courage! :D

I encountered lots of blockages on the N10 going north 2 weeks ago, from the current news reports it doesn’t look as though things have changed much. If you do go put a high vis vest on the dashboard and be prepared to soundbyour horn in support, it does help a little.

Might pop over for a few days at the end of this week (weather dependant)
Someone on here said there were fuel shortages in the north. Can anyone confirm or deny that please?

Richard.

I’m in citi-Europe now and came up from the Somport tunnel over the weekend, there still at some roundabouts where they stop some traffic for a while, only been held up for 5mins or so each time... I’ve had no trouble getting fuel and haven’t seen any situation at a garage about fuel whatsoever...

All good humoured and some give you sweets as they walk up the line of traffic..... even in the heavy rain...

On Brittany ferry as I type, destination St Marlo. Looks like I might be in for some fun and games, although I’m in no hurry to get anywhere.
Best Wishes Tony

Janie was speaking to someone yesterday, they have a removal company here in spain, and he had lots of problems coming through france, they are booked into hotels on route and could not get to them, and it took them a long time to get across the border into Spain. :xeek:
If it was me, I would be looking for the smaller roads, and hopefully although a slower journey you should keep moving. :xThumb: Bob.

Same here in the region where I live.

@hymermick we have travelled down as far as Pissos since Friday and only came across protesters at Rouen without any delays.:xThumb::xThumb::xThumb: We’ve been doing a mix of tolls and N roads.
Safe travels
