Hi guys,
Newbie owner of an old lady called Dollie, I bought her only 3 weeks ago, from a well known dealership in Somerset. I drove off, excited about the Adventures I had planned for my Retirement. I had to drive over 300 miles, back to Suffolk, and it was torturous. (Peogut Boxer StarDream 2001)
Why? The gear box, was STIFF<CLUNCKED, and came out of gear mid drive, (M25, was frightening loosing speed, trying to get into 3rd gear, or down, when the traffic piled up behind me)!
I pulled into the Reading service station, and rang the dealer up, saying that at 66, I am finding it very difficult to change gears, and I had another 250 miles to go it alone. They were confident there was nothing wrong, as it had an MOT, and habitation check, but NOT a Full Service, which is what I thought it hard.
Dealership, says there was no problem, bringing it back from Cornwall ,and that as a WOMAN, who has been used to AUTOMATIC cars, for passed 40 years, I am finding it difficult to drive ? mmmmmm
My son in law who is a top Engineer, trained at Lotus, has driven it, and believes the Synchronisation of the Gear box, and Clutch are on the way out???
I have rang the Dealer up, and they have agreed ONLY for an ANALYTICAL TEST in a local garage, to see what is wrong with the vehicle, and the Warranty states that I have 6 months labour etc.
Now i am worried, that if the service garage finds a MAJOR FAULT, that I should return it, and get a FULL REFUND, but the dealership wont do a Full Service, only an analytical test on the gear box, which is very worrying for me,
The question is , " What should I do?, and what are my legal rights, after only 2 weeks of purchase ? I love Dollie, and do not want her to go back, but neither do I want to be travelling all around the UK and eventually Europe, with a Vehicle, that is not up to the job.
Maybe some reassurance, for a NEWBIE, lady who feels quite desperate, now guys please
Thanks Guys
Caroline
