The expression “you’ll have to sew them back on again first” may well reflect what will likely happen when Mrs R sees my “nudge” oh sh1t i didn’t see that sign post escapade…..
Not driven the van for a while over winter, had to go down to the MOT centre and whilst being a nice and considerate person i decided to park right at the back of the car park whilst i waited to be called in. Trouble is being a numpty i reversed (slowly of course) into a large sign… Too embarrassed to see what damage I’d done i checked after the MOT and found this
I polished most of the marks out so it now looks like this:
And I probably with some more elbow grease i can get it looking even better. But what to do about the cracked plastic ?
The worst part is the grey rear quarter panel
And my thoughts are:
1) rear the quarter panel
2) reinforce it with epoxy from the inside
3) sand up the cracked outer surface
4) spray it up afterwards (not too sure how to match the gloss factor)
5) fill the cracked fixing hole and re-drill so it reattaches more flush
The small crack in the textured white panel I’m less concerned about and may just bond that some how ???
Any thoughts ?
PS: body shop work here is just crazy money based on labour costs so is out of the question and it doesn’t need to be perfect just good enough so that parts of my anatomy remain where they are and blunt knives stay in the drawers where they are supposed to be
