Help , somewhere I can park and have BBQ near Sunderland.

We are new to the motorhomes, we brought last year and have only been out in it once!. My youngest daughter is at Sunderland University, its her birthday at the weekend and I booked in at the Durham Grange, Caravan & Motorhome site, we intended on Meeting her in Durham one day and having a BBQ on her birthday but the site have told me strictly no visitors.

So where could I drive and stop and have a BBQ that's nice no too far from Sunderland (Daughter has car so can drive to meet us).
