I have a vent in the bathroom of mh .. see photo. I try and clean it with an old toothbrush and bleach but the result is messy and unsatisfactory. Before long it is as bad as ever .. again see photo. Driving me mad.

Question is .. can I remove to plastic vent with putting a knife behind it and prising it off to wash it in sink ... or will this damage the ceiling .? Are they meant to be sprised off for cleaning?

Hi Joy
We have the same vent in our bedroom. We have prised it off with a knife or similar quite easily but ours have some black goo which holds it in place. So can clean the dust etc ok from the vent itself but have kept the black goo in place to stick it back up?

No, no, Tim you really don't want to do that.

The top just unclips, OK it means you have to get a ladder out. Best to do it on a warm day as they are quite stiff especially if they are old.

Sorry to be thick .. when you say 'unclips' will I be able to see the clip if I stand on a ladder?

No, you won't see the clips they are behind the plastic cover, just be careful on the ladder.
gently prise one end first and see if it moves.

Yes, white tabs you lift the top over, maybe best to warm with a hair drier if the top is very stiff.

Not a very good pic just taken it through a dirty bedroom window.

I thought Joy wanted to remove the vent cover inside not on the roof.

Motorhomes have some very odd ways of attaching things. My vents unscrew from the outside so you've got to get on the roof to do that. I must admit, that vent cover does look like it should just unclip from the inside but I haven't got those sorts of vents so wouldn't like to say for sure.

I have these on my van joy and have just pulled it down to clean, I just got my finger nails in there and it came down fairly easy, a long flat butter knife worked around the edge will get it down.. but as always be carful as it may be brittle....

Good luck

Joy I have the same sort of vents. Just get your fingernail under the lip and prise it down bit by bit. They do fit well but will come off, clean and push back in hole. They are tight but so easy to do. You can also clean the underside of the roof piece while at it. (y)

We just do ours from inside the van with the Dyson crevice nozzle, the one with the bristles on the end.

Doesn't work with leaves which is what always ends up in ours.
