Hi we are wanting to go into France then Belgium and down into Germany at the end of the month with our campervan but still can't get my head around the covid rules. We are double jabbed but not boosted so will need to take an antigen test before leaving Dover on the ferry, do we need another antigen test to get into each country on our trip if the antigen test is older than 48hrs? or can we use the same test on our trip through the different countries?

Thanks for any help.

IMO, once you are in France then there are no further checks within the Schengen area.

We've just spent 3 weeks driving down to Switzerland via France and Germany, no border checks after Calais.

Thanks for the info Kups, hopefully still the same when we get over there, although it wouldn't spoil our holiday if we had to take more tests it's just one thing less to worry about during the trip.

There ain't none go for it just make sure you have your record of your jabs in case you are asked for them we were not asked

Agree, Covid rules are non existant in most EU countries now. Suggest though that you do take masks as these are still required in certain locations in different countries although policing the rule is lax.

We have been messing about now for six months, we finally bit the bullet last week and we have never come through the tunnel quicker, and it's just as if nothing has happened anywhere we have been in France this last day or two, no checks no masks just as it was two years ago.
Just go for it.

Thanks for the info Pagey. Our plans are to head SW Germany to the Black Forrest ect would be great if you had any recommendations from your trip, Just been looking at Heidelburg since you mention it, is it worth an overnighter? seen a small campsite about 4km away from the town.

We liked it glad we went there is an aire at a town called Sweatzingen right next to aldi you can get the bus no717 outside the aire to heidleburg but the old town is a bit of a walk from the bus stop
Sweatzingen is worth a look as well just a 10 min walk from the aire check it out on google

Will check that out thanks, it will help the last minute planning:-)

Might be the one we stayed on some years ago.
Recommend that you check it's not next to the railway lines because those trains ran all night, especially the good trains. Common arrangement in Germany - railways run along the river banks.

Since March we have been through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and currently in Leipzig. Each country has different Covid rules - some quite stringent others not so. When we arrived in Italy and Slovenia, Covid declarations were still required which are completed on line (EU PLF) which are still required. Pretty straightforward to do. Masks are required on public transport in most places and I suggest it’s wise to have your masks with you if they are required. Note in Germany (Munich in particular] the authorities mandate wearing an FFFP2 mask (our white/blue masks are not permitted). Many people wear masks in shops and where it’s mandatory people soon let you know you need to wear one. In Hungary there is little requirement to wear mask though many people do.

Just checked and it is right next to the main road and then a railway line.

No trains at swetzingen aire it's on search for sites there is a good Chinese though

I am off to a bike rally in Czech next week and have been checking the gov.uk site for months now and it seems that we are all free to travel as long as we are fully vacc'd. Emails every few days as the rules have changed for France, Belgium, Germany & the ČR. Coming back through Austria as one of the group wants to go over the Grossglockner!
