We have normal Truma heating in our new van. At the collection day the sales ran through all the controls etc . But when we had our trial run last week I had forgotten how to set the system up (age may have something to do with it!). Managed to get the heating going , but all I wanted was hot water.

Can some one out there give me in very simple terms ABC how to set these controls . I understand we can control the heating from our smart phone, BUT I dare not go down that route. I have all the instructions the handbook but it’s all “double dutch” to me, well in fact German.

Very simple terms 1 2 3 , A B C please.

To get the hot water on depress the big knob til one of the pictures flashes.
Then you can turn the knob til it gets to the one that is second from the left at the top which is like a thermometer.
Then push knob back in as this selects it.
Then twist knob til it shows boost. Then depress knob and relax.
Water will be hot in 10 to 15 mins

Try searching truma controls on YouTube. It's all there.

Wishful thinking, more like 40 min.

Word of warning ECO setting is naff, heats to 40° but has a large hysteresis and thermostat does not turn on again until water drops to 27°, so the second person gets a cold shower.

BOOST overrides the heating so if heating is on the heating will turn off until the water is up to temperature.

Why didn’t they do a video for you?

Don't worry if the water gets warm when only the heating is on, it's completely normal and nothing to worry about.
Ver good advice on previous replies.

Thanks for all replies very useful. I am sure I can get it to work this morning after I have been shopping!

ThenThursday we are off to France which we are looking forward to. Hope we will not need the heating but the hot water will be good.

Do what most men do with printed media ... just look at the pictures!

Must admit I had a real mental block with the same control system in our new van, fortunately Nick didn’t. Every so often even now a big spanner symbol appears or something odd, I don’t know what I “do” wrong. Given up giving Nick a chance to mansplain, I just turn it off and start again!

I don’t normally have a problem with such things by the way.

Sigh! I ALWAYS do-have IT problems Everywhere.
even when I think I have done exactly as instructed in vanby helpful funsters above it mainly goes horribly wrong. I think It Is Me ..
Last time I tried to switch it on I got displays indicating it was on a timer setting (😱) gave up switched it off boiled kettle had wash in sink ........... ( was Van Alone-Ing) Today Sarah went to put water on to heat ( kayaking today😄 hooray-rain- boo) and the heating icon just was not there . Took her half an hour to re set the thing she has no idea what I did but Not Allowed to do it again ...

May need a software update.

Just need to master the timer now so when you get up the water is hot for a shower.

It’s been like it from the beginning, I expect it’s me! You’re very kind to say so but it never happens to Nick , or are you implying that I need one? My children would definitely agree with you there...

And, if you have an ancient van (like us) I found this simple 'one page' explanation of how to get the various dials to do stuff. Far better than the manual.

Would really recommend the Truma App, which connects by Bluetooth when in or around the van. Can connect from anywhere but needs SIM card to do that

Pressing STATUS - gives temperatures

Pressing REMOTE CONTROL (at Front Screen) gives you turning Heating & Water on and setting Timer

Selecting WATER TEMPERATURE gives you

I find this much simpler and "reliable" than trying to operate the panel manually

That’s the same as ours, had to give John a teach in before he took it out on his own. i find the knob is rather sensitive (ooh er missus)
as before turn gently till thermometer is illuminated, press centre button turn and then choose between 2 settings think it is 40 and 60 , press then chose method of heating again by turning the knob we have gas eklectric 1 and 2 or conbined chose your heating method and press the button again thermometer on panel should be flashing. There is a very good tube video, we didn’t get any appliance information when we bought the van.

That only works if you have the i-Net add on.

I fitted a CPlus to our last van it kept falling over when the timer was set, a software update cured it. No problems with the current van (2017).

That seems like a lot of knob fiddling and twisting I reckon that's gonna hurt if you twist it the wrong way
