When I get my new M/H it will come with Alde heating,water system how does it compare to the Truma combi 6E this is what I have at the moment and in the 6 years I have had it it has always been faultless I use it year round on gas and electric and it keeps my M/H nice and warm.
 
Alde heating is fantastic BUT be mindful that it will take quite a while to get to temperature on electric (1,2 or 3kW) but on gas it will be much quicker and even quicker if you choose gas and electric. Once upto temperature it will happily maintain it on electric 👍
 
As above, and it’s so quiet the way to go it would be a big factor if I was changing my van.

were in the same position, but we dont hate our Truma, just prefer the Alde.

Not that I know anything about Alde systems (we have a Truma combi) but, at the site we are currently parked at, the owner asked us what heating system we had. I asked why and he said that Alde uses much more electricity than other systems and they have a policy of limiting the electricity to 10 units (this wasn’t defined) per day. I don’t know if he’s right. Just saying.
 
Ah, alde heating is the main reason I went 10 grand over budget and 1 MTR longer had it in my last 3 caravans and would not go back to truma
 
We owned a new Caravan with Alde Heating and it was fantastic as it seemed to warm everything in the van, including anything stored in cupboards high & low, it was almost like it warmed the walls & fabric of the van in an even, well distributed way. After a few months it only worked on gas, and being a caravan we only had the 6kg calor gas bottles, well we would get through one of those in 6/7 days in the winter. It wasn't until the van had its 1st hab check it was discovered that the large push fit connector block at the back of the Sargent PSU was loose on one side, pushed back in, it worked a dream on electric.(y)
We sold the caravan, bought The MH, and didnt have a choice on heater, accepted it had a Truma6E warm air system which works well, but no where near as toasty as The Aldi System as it doesnt heat the walls from behind so does not heat up the contents of cupboards as comprehensively.

I always remember the caravan sales guy explaining the difference between the Truma Warm Air & The Alde heating systems, in a very succinct way, some would say almost cruel, but I say true.

" Your lucky to have The Alde wet heating system in your new van, its much better than the Truma Hot Air system, which in comparison, is just like having a fan heater in a biscuit box! o_O

I will let the experienced amongst us say whether he was right or not, I think he was, I would always spec Alde over Truma given the choice, which unfortunately is not given that often.

I cannot describe the shear joy of walking on a warm floor in the winter. On the coldest of days to have warm feet as the heating comes on in the morning; bliss. No contest, Alde who for service or repairs are outstanding.
 
I've not got Alde and only have experience of Truma. It has come over to me in all I read that Alde is the superior system but, I assume, also more expensive? They do seem to be standard in more expensive vans.

As for the Truma - I have no complaints. It does the job very well in my van. I don't quite get the 'Alde is silent' comment. The only time I hear the Truma is on ignition.

It's a bit like those who swear by hydraulic self levelling systems. Yes they do it very well if you are willing to spend £3000. On the other hand my £30 levelling ramps work really well too!
 
Over the years we have had manly variations on heating systems, Carver, Truma and Alde. Some with fans and others that had a fire attached to the kitchen units or wardrobe. To get an around heat in the little nooks and cranies Alde beats the lot. There are 2 prices to pay. Cost and weight. But I feel the benefits outweigh them.
 
We have had 2 Swifts both with Alde, we were away just before christmas wild camping all nice and warm inside, in the morning I checked the temperature outside and it was -7 ! We have ordered a Carthago and have chose Alde again, also with the engine exchanger so it heats the habitation area whilst driving.

Just a thought. How can you wild camp with Alde heating?
 
On our refillable gas bottles. Its not too juicy either

Truma is a max of 1.8 kW on electric Alde 3 kw.

That's the construction of the van not the heating. We have a nice warm floor with a Truma the double floor is heated.

Construction helps but with Alde you can have heating pipes in the floor 😊👍
 
Well, we’ve had two nights at -4° in the van. Without using gas to get the temperature up, we used the Truma. 30 minutes with the thermostat at 4 the van was warm. We turned it down to 1 when we went to bed and slept really well. Plenty warm enough and I’m a southern softie who dreads the cold. In the morning, it was perfectly comfortable when I made the coffees.
Turned the heating off completely when we went for our beach walk and when we got back, it was still warm. So we are quite happy with our Truma. Also, had plenty of hot water.
 
We love our Truma. The MH heats up so quickly and, as someone above said, you only hear it when the boiler is igniting.
 
Our ALDE heating is very noisy on gas at the moment as if something is not right , making a sort of rattling sound .

Were in Spain and EHU is metered
so we are limiting our electricity consumption and using gas only for heating .
The last time I had problems with ALDE I was also in Spain and it broke down completely.
Couldn’t get anybody to come and repair it .
So much for reliability given that’s the unit is not even a year old .
And it’s exceptionally gas hungry compared to Truma

Our first MH (Bailey) had Alde - we didn't have anything to compare it to, but thought it was great: very quiet, even heat distribution and very easy to programme. The only downside was the time it took to get up to temperature.

Our second MH (Rapido) had Truma 6E. It was much quicker to warm up but we found it didn't heat the MH very evenly (spent ages adjusting the vents, but never got it quite right) and the fan was quite noisy if it wasn't on Eco. Plus I found it much more fiddly to programme.

Our current MH (Carthago) has Alde with a heat exchanger. I'm so glad to have Alde again , and the heat exchanger totally eliminates the only downside 👍

I wouldn't buy a MH based in which heating system was installed, but if there were two identical MH one with Truma and one with Alde, I'd go for the Alde...and be prepared to pay extra for it.
