Our Pilote motorhome is 7 months old with a standard Truma blow air heating / hot water system. We have noticed that after having the heating on, only at 16c and on gas, the water gets very hot, not just warm but very hot. Is this normal ?

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome, thanks.

Yes, we’ll at least ours does. It seems to heat the hot water first.

Hi,

I've got a Pilote with both TRauma and ALDI heating. I don't use the Trauma, just the ALDI. I have to say that it does put out VERY hot water whatever power source your using and in less than 10 mins from cold!

If you have any doubts refer to the manual, the websites or your dealer.

Yes. The gas heats a big lump of aluminium. Inside is your water, outside fins to heat the air. So you can't have hot air without hot water. You can have hot water but no air by turning off the fan.

I take you have a Combi C6, that's not normal (was on the older C6002).
Both the vans with C6's we have had it takes over 1½ hours to get the water fully hot with just the heating on.

Thanks everyone, heating has been on tonight for about 4 hours, looking at all the useful replies this seems to be quite normal.

We don't usually have the heating on for that long but it's pretty cold in the far north west of Scotland tonight.

On my Truma I can set the water heating at two levels; the lower is usually quite warm enough for washing etc. but we occasionally put it on the higher setting which sanitizes the system; takes about 20 mins to heat a boilerfull.
I can also have the heating on without hot water, even without any water in the boiler apparently (though I never do).

You can however use the heating with no water in the boiler.
