Sorry to be asking about all this, every time I want something there's a reason I can't have it. lol
Can anyone suggest a good heating system that wouldn't cost the earth and that a reputable installer would be happy to install.

PS I only have a tiny gas bottle and Dave Newall refused point blank yo install a Chinese Diesel heater .he recommended Propex , problem is cost and small had bottle .

I had an eberspacher diesel heater, a lot of people say the Chinese copy is very good, I understand why a dealer may be reluctant to fit one but others on here seem happy with them

I think the danger with the Chinese copy is that there a number different one on the market none of which I believe , have been of these have safety checked in this country. So David doesn’t want to take responsibility for you being gassed by poor quality exhaust piping.

LPG Propex HS2000
2KW chinese, Webasto, Eberspacher or Planar diesel heater.
You want the harmful gases out expelled outside the van.
You could also buy a 4 season Mummy Style sleeping bag.
Winter , Spring, Summer and Autumn.
They are so well insulated that You will sleep nice and warm no matter how cold
it becomes inside your van.
I have a 5KW Chinese Diesel Heater in My Motorhome and it would be toooo hot for your
size van.
2KW would be the ideal output.

We have a planar diesel heater, supplied by pf jones. It is an excellent heater with excellent service from pf jones. I would think that Dave would be happy to fit one of these

Next time you are in Scotland Pat there is a company called ACLS Marine who supply and fit for £299. Same price for 2kw or 4kw

In our small campervan we used to use a small fan heater while on site with leccy. If not we'd just wrap up well. Wouldn't do the nowadays though. Suggest diesel heater best option.

May be a lack of CE marking Put Dave off,
Just a guess

A friend of mine has fitted a Chinese Diesel heater in his van (, now sold ) I asked him for advice, he said he wouldn't do it again .
He said he would put an Eberspatcher in ad the Chinese heater was too hot and even when the thermostat cut it out hot air carried on and it was too hot . Also , it wasn't 2kw it was more like 5kw. Interesting to get someones experience with these heaters

No way would you want a 5Kw version in your van. We have a 7.2 metre van and insulation is not as thick as say the German van, and our Chinese diesel heater chucks out ample heat at the lower setting for us.
A 2Kw would be more than enough for the size of your van.
You can tune and adjust the heater output to run cooler and hotter that the factory setting in the controllers advanced settings. I have adjusted ours so it can run cooler when the evening just have a chill that needs taking off.

I had a propex in my old 70s vw campervan, it would heat it very quickly and that had an old uninsulated poptop and glass windows all round
I would think with the size of a Roma home, with it being double glazed and well insulated you will be turning it off very soon after turning it on

For the Romahomes you would normally fit a diesel heater as the gas locker simply isn’t big enough to run heating, hob, grill and fridge!
normally they have a propex but I prefer the Eberspacher. The Chinese ones are ok and a fifth of the price, the issue being the parts if something goes wrong. That being said we have fitted 2 recently for customers to their Romahomes (We are a Romahome dealer) and gave them the option of £1000 for a proper Eberspacher or £400 for a Chinese

We have a diesel heater assume an eberspacher it’s very good but too noisy at night time..when on hookup we use a small oil filled radiator set to the 900watt setting at night keeps the van warm enough.
We just put on warmer pj’s and a thicker duvet

Sadly no one to cuddle up to , I have noticed that Romahomes are selling for a high price, so even if I sold it, hopefully, I'd get my money back It would break my heart to sell it tbh, I have found it so useful during lockdown , enabling me to park on friends drives and visit in their gardens 😃

An old trick on boats is to use a squat candle and a clay flowerpot.

You put the candle on the flowerpot’s saucer, light it, and invert the flowerpot over the top. The flowerpot heats up nicely, you get a cozy light and masses of heat. Ensure adequate ventilation and don’t leave on overnight while asleep, etc...

I have just been passed on to a guy by a friend, he's retired from an American motorhome company and he was in charge of fitting out .
He seems very knowledgeable and he's bothered to come and see me and go through everything I need.
He comes very highly recommended by a friend I trust , so, he looks to be the man.
Solar panels 2x 100watt , usb and cigarette sockets, and able to fit an Eberspatcher D2 diesel heater directly to my diesel tank , price wise, not cheap, but not expensive either , but mainly , he impressed me with his knowledge , he was the only one who even bothered to get out a tape measure and get into my van and talk through with me what I wanted and where I wanted it.
He went back to his home, not far from me, priced it up and contacted me the next day, believe it or not , I have had companies not bother to return calls ,.Tbh , this guy dederves the business.
