How much does anyone use their gas room heater , have only been away twice since I had the van also lived in van until mid november last year while house was being repaired and have not used the gas heater at all its also a bit close to the fixed bed so was mulling over removing heater and using area for storage, wont use van through winter and have a 240v 2 stage (400w/400w) infrared heater i could run from inverter if necessary,

It does seem a little close to the bed, but our last motorhome, a Swift Royale, had a similar heater close the the rear seating ( which converted to a double bed) and we had no problems with it. We only ever use gas heating so wouldn’t be without it.

When I first saw one of those I thought "have they nicked that from an old house". But once I'd owned one, a totally different story. Quiet, efficient, brilliant. Even better if you have the air circulation as well.

We use our htr (propex ) in morn before we get up to warm room/bathroom.Rarely at night as we only do Summer camping. If on EHU sometimes use the small oil htr on low .

I remember when we werte "tugging" a Lynton cv I put a new cascade and one of those htrs in it.Best one yet -would have put a used one in my conv but hadn't the room.

All the time only have gas heating in our van but most vans have blow air heating so no local hot spots.

I'd leave it where it is. They are one of the best heaters, off grid, as they can heat without using the fan. You will want to sell it on one day and the next guy may not share the feelings you have about it.
If you swap it for a different heater, you'll have to store that somewhere and lose the little space you gained.

Much prefer our gas fire to previous Combi boiler all blown air heating, keeps clothes in the wardrobe warm, can be used when travelling(not that we ever have, except by accident), quickly warms the van when stopping for lunch, as the air supply is taken from under the van, the blown air on its own can be used to cool the van in hot weather. The position under the wardrobe does mean that the blown air has to be on full to avoid burnt legs when taking clothes out!

think it might have been changed at some point its gas only no fan or electric element although there is wiring for it behind, i can access the area behind it from the bottom of the wardrobe which is where i will store infrared heater now I have put extra battery and inverter under sofa
I will try it out sometime without the bed made up as the quilt is virtually touching it

Gas only is good enough. The electric version was not very good. No fan = more space behind for storing things only used occasionally.
Do not plan to use any heating device with an inverter. You are likely to end up damaging your batteries.
Use gas for heating. Gas is cheaper than electricity per kWh, unless you are on a site where EHU is provided for no additional charge.

It`s your Choice obviously, but in my experience when the EHU goes off, and the battery is failing, and it`s cold outside (even in a British summer). The gas heater is your friend. :( IF I tried to take the gas heater out of ours, there would be hell to pay!.

We do not have a fire like that. Instead we have the Alde central heating system that spreads warmth throughout the motorhome. I would be worried if I had a fire that close to the bed, because we use duvets and they drape over the side of the bed.

You will not be able to run even a 400W low energy heater for very long on an inverter without ruining your battery or batteries. That would take at least 33 amps, so would flatten a 100Ah lead acid battery in one and a half hours, bearing in mind that the battery should not be discharged below 50% of capacity. The only practical way to heat using electricity is if you are plugged into the mains.

Had one in our old van, worked great and no electrics needed. Sadly no spare wall to bolt one to in our current van. I wonder if anyone makes a unit that fits under the floor that does not need electrics.
