I'm a newbie
Hi Everyone

I know there are many topics on the heater blower not working but I think I am missing something in my investigations.
My blower stopped working on all speeds after a lengthy demisting session. It failed to work when turned on a few days later.
I have a Hymer B544 A class 1997 based on a Ducato 2.5 td. I have checked the fuse in the glove box with a multimeter, I know it is getting power and that power transfers from one side of the fuse to the other.
I have removed the lower dash on the passenger side to reveal the resistor pack

and the fan motor, also a set of relays.
When checking for power with my meter with ignition and fan switch on there is no power at the fan motor or at the resistor pack. All connectors are clean and free from signs of overheating. I have read that there may be a fuse and relay in the engine compartment but I have failed to find any fuses or relays apart from those used for the habitation area. There is a grey box above the battery but I can't get the cover off so I do not know what lies beneath (see photo).
I will post photos of the fuse box , relays and grey box for all to see. I am getting expert at removing and refitting the dash so I may have to investigate the heater switch next. Any thoughts will be most gratefully received.

The 'grey' box is nothing to do with it. It is part of the glow plug heater starting system.

I think if you have power from the fuse then the switch is the next point to check

can you put a direct feed to heater motor to rule that out,

That was one of my to do's, leisure battery is very close so will run a couple of leads from that.
Will keep you posted.

Unlikely but just in case it's similar I was checking a blower circuit for voltage and thought there was no power from switch... found out that the switch simply provided the return to ground/negative , and didn't register the expected voltage...
Andy.

Cheers Andy, funnily enough I had come across this on the Fiat forum which could mean I am looking for an earth problem. At least summer is on the way so cab temp may be bearable!

SOLVED! As Andy63 mentioned the root cause of my problem was the actual dashboard switch. After removing layers of dash just to get at it and using a myriad of different size screwdrivers the offending switch was removed and replaced with a new one. All is now well with all speeds working as they should.

Thanks to all who replied to my original post.

Pleased your sorted .. it's nice when outcome is posted ...
And as a further illustration of the way modern vehicle electrics have gone ( just to confuse me :D ) gear box reverse switches seem commonly just to provide the return path to the circuit rather than switch the power...) that cost me a hour or so work fitting a reversing camera when I was looking for a convenient reverse signal and didn't check first before doing the wiring
Andy.

Thanks Andy, I won't be fitting a reversing camera to my old Hymer I can see out of the back window if I remember to put the blind up!!!

Thanks for your help.
