My kids have always given nicknames to our vehicles. My Alfa Spider is "The Beast", our old Discovery was "Growler" (they were younger then), and they excelled themselves with my Qashqai: "Johnny" (Johnny Cash - kai). We can't be the only weirdos that do this, so I'm wondering if any of you lot have pet names for your motorhomes?

We're calling our 'new' one Beagle because we're going to do a lot more exploring next year. Motorhome is such long word we tend to call our current vehicle - the van. The new (to us) MH is going to have a mascot too when I've been through my soft toy cupboard

We've had a few names, the most notable we had for 5 years. "The slug". I forget why it was so called but might have had something to do with its lack of power and speed.

But all my vehicles have the same name, the same name all my dads cars had.. The name is rarely used, but sometimes you'll hear me use it

..when you're on fumes and trying to get to the fuel station...
..Trying to make it over the brow of the hill...
..Struggling to overtake and in danger of a head on crash

"Come on Betsy, you can do it"

Why Betsy? I've no idea, I never did ask my dad.

Thats what my Mk1 Escort rally car was called.

Mainly because a previous occupant had scratched it into the top of the door on the inside paintwork :)

But do you talk to them? And if you do then are the answers they give to your questions sensible?

I did once have a boss who called her shopping bag (one of the trolley things) "Betsy".

Ours have been called Gus1 and Gus2.

It comes from my wife's late Grandfather Augustus ( Gus) who left her the money to buy the first one.

Dixie as she has DX in her number plate!
