Loaded 3500 motorhome to go on holiday and went to get it weight.
It weight exactly 3600.
If you are allowed plus 5% am I okay or still overweight. 5% of 3500 is 175 Have I got my sums right?

Yes, but I believe the 5% is only a discretionary allowance if you get pulled over and weighed. I would think about what you could sling out. I would not risk it.

Keep fuel load down?
Less gas?
Less water?
Less beer.?……………ooops, forget that one.

It’s likely that your limits are 2000 on rear axle and 1650 front with overall max 3500.
It is difficult to put the extra over the front end alone

I was thinking if you had a full tank of water you are always able to ditch some if stopped however you’ll have to chuck out the missus and the beer

What about individual axle weights?
It’s likely that your limits are 2000 on rear axle and 1650 front with overall max 3500.
It is difficult to put the extra over the front end alone

Axle weights are rear 1900, Front 1680 so within limits

as said, you are over weight

I'm sure we would hear about it on here if people had been stopped and weighed in their MH so I assume it isn't a regular occurrence. I could see them doing a weekend crackdown some time down the line where they target MH's but I doubt very much if you'll ever be asked to weigh.

I personally don't worry about it.

I wouldn’t give it a second thought, since you could do the paper exercise to get the vehicle uprated without any change mechanically you are hardly a danger and only overweight on paper.

Yup I'd do the same. Check all your lights are working, tyre pressures and enjoy your holiday Vince but try and not do it again

It was some time ago but from memory it was not a lot over, weighbridge 3600. We weren’t carrying a lot of water so after draining that had to find papers, magazines, tins etc to bring down to be able to board ferry.

Only 100kg. If it were me, I'd remove half of my wife's shoes and sandals from the lockers and we'd be back underweight

Never gave it much thought. I'm a solo traveler so just my stuff but a full timer so I probably have more stuff than most. I wouldn't ever bother going to a weighbridge to find out.

The point is that you are likely to be weighed, but only in a few areas. Along the south coast is a hotspot near the ports. Also on certain motorways where there are cameras and in road weight sensors. Those mostly target HGVs, but they can also catch a very overweight motorhome

At the junction of the A338 and A31 there is a ministry inspection area and weigh bridge. I have personally witnessed vans being directed in there by the police. Also ministry of transport and police checking vans and HGVs at Rownhams services on the M27

Way up north with much less traffic it seems there is very little chance of being caught

The 5% allowance is a UK concept and may not be available in other countries.

If I were 'pulled' for weighing I would pull the drain plug on the 100lt water tank before driving forward, although we go to weighbridge before travelling and are usually under our 3850kg.
