The bottom return spring of my habitation door catch has broken, luckily I was inside and managed to free the catch with a knife to open the door. I removed the inside door panel and found that the return spring of the bottom catch had broken. I removed the bottom door frame catch so I could close the door without it jamming.
I phoned my local Burstner dealer to request a new spring to be told I had to purchase the whole door opening/closing mechanism for £115 plus VAT, just to replace one return spring. I have spoken to many dealerships with little success to obtain this Spring. Can anybody assist me in obtaining this return/orsion spring?

try finding a fabricator that will make you a spring, friend had one done, but it has to be hand made and maker did not want to make any more.

Buy some spring steel and make them yourself, they are a bit tricky, but start by making the coil by winding it around a drill or bar of a diameter smaller than the coil as it will expand after forming, then form the bends using 2 pair of pliers, trim the excess steel ends with cutters.
The one on the right I made as a replacement for the middle one.
The top and bottom door latch springs are different, the one on the left is the other type.
You may want to get some spare star washers for the spring shaft, they are also available from EBay.
Cheers
Ed

You obviously know him:LOL: Only joking Ed honest:p

Just as Paul (Two on Tour) said, I bought some music wire and made a new spring for my last van's door. Not a problem as long as you have the old one or another as a pattern.

We ve twice had broken springs on our N&B and both time were able to get replacements from Travelworld for pennies. AFAIK the mechs are the same why dont you give them a try?

When the bottom Hartel door spring went on my Autosleeper as I was due to be near the factory I arranged to call in and they supplied and fitted a new spring for around £70, this was around 18 months ago
