Hard Drive Cleaner (1 Viewer)

Just bought a new Laptop, and was wondering if anyone knows of a free hard drive cleaner I can use on the old one before i get rid.I want to leave the operating system but would like to know all personal data has gone.

The problem is that anyone who has a bit of nounce can read your hard drive even if you format it.

I have some software that could do that (legitimate)

You either have to format it and re-install the OS then sell it and take the risk or destroy the hardrive completely.

There is even a machine to do that nowadays.

It's really about what information you had on it.

I've always used Eraser:

I store confidential medical data and can erase said data to a standard that makes it absolutely unrecoverable.

Read the technical data (if you have a week spare) or just use the program at a level that you feel is appropriate for the data you want to destroy.

Delete everything you want to lose then overwrite the free space as many times as you think necessary.

That picture of you in a thong will be gone forever.

It is an ISO and you can create a bootable CD - easy and safe
