Hi, I think it's a common problem but we cannot open our hab door from the outside, opens from the inside though. It has gradually got worse and now doesn't open at all from outside, so I'm assuming I need to take the inner panel off, are there screws or is it velcro, any suggestions and help much appreciated, thanks

There are two three versions of the mechanism so need to get the cover off.
If it has a seperate panel around the internal handle there are a couple of screw cover with screws under and the panel will come off.
If no panel you have to take the complete door panel off which is a right pig.

You have to spring it out around the edges car trim tools & one the tools for removing double glazing beads are useful. Work the sides of first.

Update, I've managed to get the inner panel off around the handle and take the brocken part out, I've tried calling Hartal but they said go through hymer UK or a dealer so not very helpful, Brownhills are looking into it for me but I won't expect good news so where can I get one or two from, looks like cast Ally otherwise I could have welded it

Hymer dealer will sell you a complete mechanism for 200-300 quid.
I think Steve OldAgeTravellers made a replacement or got one made.
A guy on here had a couple made and sold me one to recover his costs a bit. He may still have the drawings. A friend made a 3D printed one but it was a bit flexible. With different material and a much more accurate design I think this is the answer. Although the steel one he sold me is fine. The reason for the breakage is the multi locking which is a steel strip running in plastic guides which get sticky. I regularly spray copious amounts of ptfe lube from the top hoping it will rundown and get to the lower parts.
Really bad design and I lost all faith with Hymer after that as they will not allow Hartal to sell an obviously badly designed part which regularly breaks and is an easy replacement.
