Habitation door latch spring

Our habitation door latch stopped working correctly on Saturday, after asking where I might source one, Norman Jones pointed me towards his thread in the Hymer section where M J suggested eBay sellers make them to order, after a quick search on you tube for spring making videos I ordered a pack of M3 Starlock washers and popped down to B&Q to pick up a few mtrs of 1mm piano wire.

10 minutes with a pair of needle Nosed pliers and a pencil, using the original spring as a template yeilded this..

Which fitted the catch and seems to work as well as the original did.

After making two spares I now have approx 11.5 mtrs of excess piano wire and 37 spare M3 Starlocks

Great, I actually put an extra large washer on as well, I thought it may reduce the rubbing.

My door latch spring just broke, thanks to this old thread, piano wire on order for fick up tomorrow.
Just got to get the door panel off done it before so I know it's a right basted.

We bought a spring on line but are fazed by taking the door panel off. Any tips would be welcome.

It's just a sprung fit, if it's the same as mine take the grab handle off and a screw behind the latch handle then just a case of praising it off with trim tools longest sides first.
Maybe able to do the spring just easing the outside edge off.
