Any advice much appreciated
Kev

They use a special key that releases the barrel from the lock. It lifts the last ward in the lock and let's you get the barrel out. Key is longer than normal one.

thanks
for the info
still not sure which type of lock it is
but the site is very informative

Anyone know this type of lock please?

Search Google Images for caravan door locks or handles. One of the pics will match. It looks like a reasonably common type.

If the key is square with a "snake" cut out each try googling fawo. The same sites will give the alternatives. To remove the barrel use a steak knife to drop the last catch and pull the barrel, once its out its easy to get a new barrel.

Take it to a local locksmith if it’s just the barrel

off to the locksmith tomorrow but would still like to know what lock it is

Ours is a Hobby too

Try your local caravan or motorhome dealer if they have a workshop.

@Duck Truck
You’re not trying very hard, get it stripped down so you can see more of the barrel then match it up on the site I gave you.
There maybe some identifying marks on the barrel inside when in bits.

still on the quest
for a replacement lock barrel
The lock is a FAP 1
I can find a barrel for the lockers but not the habitation door
The barrel has to have a long tang on the end as in the picture below

Sadly doesnt seem to be
I can't extract the barrel from the
housing

Is there a little horse shoe clip holding it together?

I have removed the circlip to get the lock out of the outer housing
I cannot get the barrel out of the casing it's in
so i cannot tell if the tang is attached to the barrel

Does anyone know how to remove the barrel from the sleeve (outer housing)please?

Hi everyone
not had a reply to this last post
tried extracting the barrel from the housing without any luck
Not sure if this is because
a) The barrel does not come out and is integral to the housing
b) The barrel needs a special key to remove it from the housing
c) the damage to the barrel means it is jammed in the housing

The lock still turns and locks with the key but the barrel entrance is well mangled and thus a lot less secure

Any advice for extracting the barrel appreciated
I contacted FAP the makers directly via e mail 10 days ago
no reply so far

The barrel needs a special key to allow it to come out of the barrel. FAP and Zadi barrels each require a specific key.

you can try this method too

Both FAP and Zadi latches are very similar but not all are interchangeable. I am having similar issues at the moment.

If I need any parts I will take you up on your kind offer or
pop round and have a nervous breakdown in your van
