Hi, is there a rough guide to motorhoming in Austria in any of the forums, please? Thanks. Or any other info also welcome.
We did a fleeting visit to Austria before Covid hit, for a few days, but want to spend 3 weeks there.

What is it you would like to know?
It’s a very nice country, loved by some, hated by others (mainly those with heavy motorhomes needing the go box)

Ah yes under 3.5t buy yourself a vignette and Austria is you lobster!!
The best two sites I’ve stayed on are
No1 camping arneitz in Faak am see, it’s a brilliant acsi site on the shore of lake Faak (but don’t go first two weeks of sept unless you like Harley Davidsons as there will be 100,000 of em there)! There’s a few nice towns and attractions round there (minimundus and the pyramidienkogel)
No2 Alpencamp in Kotchscatch Mauthen
Great site we only stayed one night but we will go back (the B111 towards sillian is, shall we say beautiful and interesting (narrow in places))
Then there’s up around st Wolfgang and of course Hallstatt (which I’ve only visited on the Harley) which is very beautiful.

I need to get back there😞😞😞

thanks, I'll check them out - we stayed at Grubhof near Lofer, which was lovely. I like Harleys but prefer Indians :)

We went to Salzburg and stayed at this site

Very friendly park where and how you like site, restaurant and small shop on site.
10min walk to the bus stop then another 10min on the bus to Salzburg.
We stayed here before going non toll to Slovenia .
Stunning country and better than Switzerland we think.
Still snow up at the ski resorts in May.
We hope to make it over to Vienna next year so will watch this for any recommendations.

Did you manage to put together a tour for Austria at all? I am thinking of doing one this year and any guides/ideas would be really helpful thanks.

Take a look at Atlas Obscura in the internet. We always use it when visiting somewhere to find the most interesting things to see and do. There is a free app as well

Would highly recommend

Ferienparadies Natterer See

Located on the south side of Innsbruck - it is a very high quality site with facilities which are just immaculate and high tech. Lovely lakeside restaurants. Loads of great walks abound directly from the site. in addition there is a complimentary free bus into Innsbruck which stops at the site gate. When staying at the site you also get a tourist discount card giving reduced entry to a number of Innsbruck attractions.

Lake Weissensee is gorgeous, try the site here . Lovely hotels and restaurants to eat in around the lake with loads of walks into the mountains and great cycling around the area .

We went to Zell-am-See whilst in Austria. I wanted to go back after visiting with the school in 1971 - it was still beautiful. We stayed at an ACSI site on the other side of the lake and cycled in. (I can find the name if you’re interested).

A lot of the campsites in Austria offer/give you a card for the local area which includes free entry to beaches at lakes, lifts in the ski lifts, couple of hours sauna late in the evening, discount on some paying stuff such as museums.
Worth checking each area as you go into them and not purchasing the card prior to arrival as you may get some stuff free.

I'm afraid we didn't! The weather in Austria was not at all good - unusual, apparently - so we headed down to Italy instead.
