Gross vehicle weights

Hi folks
Looking for a little guidance I have 2 plates under the bonnet a) the manufacturers and b) AL-KO see images attached
the AL-KO one states axle 1 front _ 1850 kg axle 2 _ rear 2000kg does this mean I have a gross total fully loaded vehicle weight of 3850kg?

Unfortunately not.
The two axle weights add up to more than the gross weight to allow a little bit of uneven loading without exceeding the gross weight.
Yours is 3500kg.

Be cause alko were the final cconvert The Alko plate takes priority over the Peugeot plate.

The 6000kg on the pug plate is your combined trailer & van max weight but the Alko again takes priority at 5500kg.

No you only have 3500kg maximum all packed ready for your holiday. The other figures are the maximum weight allowed on each axle. Overload any of these figures and risk a fine by the boys in Blue.

This is done by the converter to appeal to as many people as possible.
However, you can increase the max weight 3850kg via a firm call SV Tech (possible to do yourself). It is a paper exercise and will cost in the region of £300.

No your GVW is 3500k, top figure, your train weight is reduced to 5500 by ALCO whose plate supercedes the manufacturers plate, this presumably because your van has some form of ALCO chassis extension.
It would be a paper exercise to increase your GVW to 3850.

I have just had our Revenue Gross Weight increased to 3850kg by JR Consultancy (thanks Mel! @Minxy Girl ) Paid his invoice on Thursday, received documents & VIN plate this morning.

Very fast turnaround of documents because our panel van conversion had had no modifications to the suspension or bodywork, so this was a basic paper exercise to obtain a new VIN plate. Received it all this morning for £150.

I am sure SV Tech can provide exactly the same service, but last I heard they were charging over £350 . . . Trouble is, everytime we have this discussion on MHF, poor John Ruffles (JR Consulting) gets snowed under with work!

@tonylcd - what is your motorhome? My upgrading was simple because we have a PVC, other vehicles might take longer.

Thanks again folks, The van is a Bailey approach 740 se I would definitely be interested in up rating it as I have a scooter on the back which soaks up 98 kg straight away

a scooter on the back will load the rear axle more than the weight of the scooter due to the fulcrum effect

And the rest......due to the fulcrum/leverage effect it could be 150kg on the REAR axle depending on distance to carrier from rear axle.

No there will still be a converters plate mine has an Al-Ko chassis and there are 3 plates, Fiat, Al-Ko & Hymer .

Wouldn't know only ever had Hymers, always thought it was normal.
