Service indicator came on yesterday so I was looking for suitable oil on ebay and came across Smith & Allen oil blenders. I bought from them years ago for the Land Rover and forgotten about them since. Think they use Shell oil so it's good stuff. Good user reviews too.

Bought this, must be 10+ quid cheaper than branded.

Oh also good for the Scoot 😎👍

Philistine, that’s not the obligatory Motorex which KTM demand. ;)

Up to a staggering 915 miles now. Think I’d better get its second service booked in seeing as the service light is on!

Serviced mine a couple of months ago, only done about 3,500 miles. Was thinking of changing it for a Honda 650 but after having the van weighed and it's 300kg under with it on, I'm keeping it 👌😎

Going a ride to Scarborough in a couple of weeks 🥶 so been fitting some Oxford heated grips. They take 3.6 amps at full power but 50% seems warm enough. Great quality for £60 when you think what Honda want (£255 + fitting + glue)

The controller switches off after 2 mins if you forget it's on when the voltage drops to 12.6 with the engine stopped. I've wired them to the ignition +ve anyway 😎

You have to file or sand down the plastic tube on the throttle side which takes an hour or 2..

If you want proper toastie hands, have you thought of bar muffs? ( ooo err)
Ive just put mine back on for winter.
Love them along with heated grips.
Last winter minus 2, motorway and still with summer gloves.
Maybe worth a try.

Look a good idea, do they go over the levers? 🤔Which ones do you use?

I've used the Tucano Urbano muffs in the past - sadly they don't fit over the hand guards on my current main bike. Amazingly good things over winter - you can wear a summer glove, with the heated grips on minimum to get you started, then they are good for comfort well below zero. They also cover that problematic glove/jacket joint, so even many hours in the rain don't see water creeping up your arm. They have a synthetic fur liner, to increase the warmth by trapping stationary air.
The only real issue is getting used to slipping your hand in - so if you've taken a hand out to adjust your visor, the first few times it's a bit worrying getting your hand back in quickly. It does become second nature though.

There's nothing quite like slipping your cold hands into a warm furry muff.

Since this thread is still going I’ll give you an update, the 390 got ditched pretty quickly and she went back to her 690. I then bought her a new 690 for a Xmas present as there was some deals on them, she is now the proud owner of a Duke 890r. Here it is just before our last ride in Spain a week last Sunday. The German couple next to us also had a Frankia and a KTM, he is a tour guide and invited us to join him for a tour in the Rioja region. I’ll make another post with more pictures.

My Scarborough trip tomorrow on the 390 ☺️ there's 4 of us going.

I'm keeping it when the new Honda 750 Hornet comes in March, I've been putting a bigger shed up this week so they can both live happily in there 👌

John's 790 is in for service at the moment, he is down for a hip replacement a week today, should be a lot easier for him once he has recovered. Wish the pillion pegs were a bit lower but apart from that I love it.
so glad we met bigtree at MotoGP

Can he not rattle up a couple of extension plates for you ?
I’ll have a look at the 890 tomorrow and see if it’s possible.

Well the heated grips and cheap muffs were a success on the Scarborough trip, I noticed the right one gets warmer because the throttle tube is plastic and more insulating than the aluminium handlebar under the left one. Had them on 50%, finger tips still slightly cold but quite manageable.

I was scared my right fingers would sieze up or slow down after a long straight and not work the front brake 🤔 they did actually slow down but were fine after a second 😏

Parked right outside the hotel front door 👌

My last 2 bikes have been KTMs 990 SMT and last one 1290GT Super Duke the 990 was so much fun being a fraction of the price when bought new and being able to use all the power and feeling more connected with bike and road.
New hip due in January and will start looking for something lighter.

I’d love to get a hold of a 990sm, had a 990sd for 12 years. 👌🏻

There’s some great deals on the Duke 890 just now as KTM try to clear this year’s model prior to next year’s bikes arriving at the dealers. I had a 990sd for 12 years, have now got the Superduke RR as in my avatar, absolute peach of a bike.

The new Honda is very similar, loads cheaper... And it's a Honda 😍 can't wait to get on it 💕

The Japs back to doing what they did years ago and copying other manufacturers bikes, it won’t be swaying me. They don’t have anything that can touch my Superduke. 😎
