We are due to pick up motorhome on 1st September. But with recent threads regarding the new Fiat automatic gearbox and the problem with engine sensor issues and not being technical minded does this mean if the engine light comes on are you still able to carry on driving or do you have to abort your journey which is not much help if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere . And why hasn’t Fiat camper issued an urgent recall or am I stressing over nothing. Does this only apply to the automatic version or manuals as well.

Don’t stress, any common problems are easily fixed and the new box is supposed to be amazing! I would love one.

Maybe Buy a handheld computer . It can often temporarily remove faults

Loving my 9 Speed Auto its flawless in its gear change and a joy too drive with (y) however my Engine light came on the other day and I believe this maybe a DPF sensor issue (Well Known) apparently not a gear box issue.

The DPF sensor fault is a known and recognised fault - the problem appears to be that getting replacements is the problem, currently as rare as rocking horse s**t.

Not sure I'd accept a new vehicle with a warning light showing but if it comes on later, provided the van runs fine I wouldn't worry too much.

Got a light on on my older Ducato at the moment for a similar fault, had it for a few hundred miles and it's not causing any problems. I know what it is (MAF sensor) and hopefully will have it sorted shortly.

Never driven an automatic but got a Funster friend who's just bought a new PVC with the new box and he reckons it's fantastic, much better than the Comfortmatic he's been used to.

I would not be driving too far with the engine management light on as the vehicle will not do its DPF regeneration if there are fault codes present so this will cause even more issues down the line with blocked DPF

Thanks for all your input I have test driven our motorhome and loved the new box so smooth. Just concerned about the sensor problems. MIck 🤔

I believe the Ducato 9 speed gearbox is the same as the one in my 2.2 litre Jeep Cherokee (Also made by Fiat). Over two years now and no trouble at all.

I'm now waiting to pick up a Fiat van and I would like to hear how you experience is with any problems since you are 12 months ahead off me

Bear in mind those experiencing problems are very vocal while those that aren't keep quiet , they can sell 100,000 vehicles but 200 owners can soon make it look like there's a major problem with a few posts on social media

I'm amazed manufacturers advertise on Facebook at all , especially with comments switched on

I saw an advert for the new Ford Puma and some old fart was moaning his Cortina went rusty in the 70s so he wouldn't be buying one :ROFLMAO:

Just drive it , as my mechanic says , if it ain't broke don't fix it

The older comfortmatic type box gets a bit of stick on MHF but I find it easy peasy. I do use manual gear change most of the time though. No clutch just a gearshift.
Im sure the 9 speed will work out just fine.
