Getting into Calais at midnight any aires campsites at that time of night

Are you arriving in Calais from the U.K. or arriving in Calais from elsewhere?

Traveling from the Isle of Man to Dover and then heading to the Loire valley m

Gravelines will be fine ands you won't disturb anybody arriving late at night - only a short drive from Calais

We always take a late night crossing usually arriving in Calais around 01.00 we the drive to Gravelines. A great Aire that I have yet to find full. A good sleep there then wherever the next day.

Here are the co-ordinates N 50.98740, and E 2.12274

I think by now everyone knows what I think of gravelines, but if you don't ,it's my favourite place in France, you will be fine there mate, if you have time have a look around as well, so many people use it as a stop for the night and never see the town. (y)

We are at Gravelines. The campsite entrance is closed for the night so we are over the road in the Airedale’s.
There seems to be a code to enter to get the door to open but we don’t know it. Presumably we can use the facilities in the morning if we pay?.

Anyone know?

Thanks

Look at the Co-Ords #7 above there isn’t a gate it’s an Aire you just park off a very quiet roadside overlooking a Canal.

That’s cos we are at the aire at Grande Fort Phillipe. Which is right next to Gravellines. There is a free aire opposite a campsite that I mentioned on Rue du Marechal Foch.

Sorry about the confusion but does anyone know the score with the campsite?

Go to Sangatte. Free and quiet. Directly above the tunnel. My sat nav gave directions as though I was on the train !!
once I moved it corrected itself.
Quite new not listed everywhere.

Or this free one a little closer to the motorway, only us and another van there a few weeks ago.

We used Watten Aire last time. Rolled in about midnight, no issues.

Personally I wouldn't try Watten as it’s only 7 places, and very often full. At that time of night you want somewhere you know you can fit in.

It definitely wasn’t just 7, it did look as though it had doubled with new tarmac on one side. I would say it would hold at least 10 brits and 30 french!

Last time for us only seven as the vans nearest the river parked longways, so we had to go up on the curbed section directly opposite the entrance. As you say, it does depend on nationality, of the visitors.

Watton aire was increased in size a couple of years ago.
From what I remember there must be space for 15-20 vans.

Richard.

Travel down to Boulogne and stop at Auchan supermarket

If the Aire is near a town or village you are not supposed to arrive after 10pm or leave before 7am.
Nothing worse than some idiot pulling in at midnight waking everyone up. It's not hard to plan your travel so you arrive at a sensible time.
