Getting gaslow refilled in benidorm

Yep, roughly a cylinder a week for us Jan to March. Like you Steve, we've got the Alde system with 11/12 radiators that warm up the MH. It certainly uses more gas than the Hymer's Truma blown air system did.

This is where we top up on the way in, and the way out Zac, which Ditcha Dave listed earlier. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
Thanks but too far away for us as we come in around Alicante and then down towards Cartagena, will keep it for later though just in case (y)

We have truma. But it may only be on 1-2 hrs at night. Never on in the morning, I'm straight out walking and running with Sam.

Well we did 8 weeks with no EHU but as I said almost 5 bottles of gas so not bad imo as Brella said a bigger van,
This next trip will be interesting as I have now fitted a diesel heater and a 45ltr tank for kerosene so will cut the gas consumption considerably 👍 not that I mind buying gas 🙂

Just use a Spanish bottle feed thru your fill point gaslow do a hose for this purpose.

That's the method I use. Needs a Spanish jumbo adaptor which Gaslow sell to attach to their extension hose and of course a Spanish cylinder. Getting hold of a used one is best as a new one requires paperwork to be completed.

Have been wondering about availability/possibility of refilling my lpg gaslow cylinders whilst sited in benidorm ,
I am booked in for 50 nights dec/jan and plan on using gas for fridge/freezer,cooking and heating.
Im in the fortunate position to be able to remove the cylinders and attach a tail with adapter for refilling off site ,leaving my moho in situ ,(ie take a taxi ride with cylinders to a gas station nearby)
Any advise would be welcome ,im sure this is not a new idea and will have its critics too.
Thanks
G
We wish it was us for 50 nights in Benidorm just love benners

Basildog how do you safely connect an external bottle as i am confused as to why Gaslow themselves sell the hardware and specifically state this is to attach to the filler point, with a link by the side of this to say which adapter you need when in different countries, this really is a genuine question?
Would rather know from a professional especially when the advice is free (y) that's what make this place great amongst other things of course.
I don’t write the relevant standards / codes of practice etc but as a professional I have access to huge amounts of information and resources that contain an unfathomable amount of information.
So within BS EN 1949 2021 the only recognised method for connecting an external cylinder is very explicitly defined.
Basically it means that you are using a medium pressure regulator on the bottle so there isn’t a high pressure hose .
The other incorrect method often used is to use a BBQ outlet as an inlet .
Again most people can’t seem to understand that a modern leisure vehicle regulator is two stage or more and has other safety features such as over pressure protection, unlike a basic single stage bottle mounted regulator that is only really suitable for external use and would fail to full bottle pressure at the appliance's .
What people also forget is that as a business we are legally responsible for any advice that we give under consumer protection laws so although we sell some products that I don’t personally like , when asked about their use I always point out the correct methods.
What otter companies choose to supply / advise is their concern , however some of the gas fittings and other gas appliances now available is a little concerning.

Why can't you remove the gaslow bottles and connect the repsol bottle to the van regulator ? BTW I dont have gaslow system, I have 1 safefill bottle and 1 repsol bottle and just interchange them when required.

You can, but it is so much more convenient to piggy back of the Repsol cylinder using the correct adapter and hose, and anyway, where would you store the Gaslow cylinder/s once removed? 🤷‍♂️

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If you know that you are going to need to refill at some stage why not just take one gaslow bottle and a repsol one or store the second gaslow in the garage or under a seat, who's gonna know?

I don't think it's really about who is going to know, more about safety. A loose bottle in the van can be a killer in the event of an accident. Also potential "bomb" if it leaks. That's why mine, if I carry one, goes in the backbox.

Fair point so leave one at home if you don't have a back box.

I take mine in the car or van to get filled !
There’s a big difference taking gas bottles in your own car to taking them in a Taxi being it is a business and a commercial form of transport. The laws are slightly different.

If you are on a campsite in Benidorm, near the outdoor market, you can rent or buy a mobility scooter, just across the road, you can carry two gas bottles on the step and steer with your feet, leaving your hands free to light your fags.. when you arrive at the Repsol Garage and refill your bottles, you can strap them together with bungee straps, then ride back to the camp. Make sure the gas bottles are turned off tightly. Don’t take corners too fast and watch out for dark blue cars with a blue light on top not flashing just turned on. These are police cars. If all this fails, follow a gypsy they’ll be taking free gas bottles every week..
