Just sitting in a thunderstorm in Austria planning homeward journey . Any recommendations for cheap convenient vet please ...near stellplatz, no appointment type to give us some flexibility. Travelling from saltzburg maybe doing romantic road route or nearby . Crossing back next Thursday so Luxembourg or Belgium also possibility. Thanks

We recommend Dr Marx in bernkastl kues, loads of stellplatz near but recommend minnheim about 20 mins away. Parking for Mh easy opposite vet on nh parking places, not an overnight stellplatz.

We took our own worm tablets to him on Monday 3 euros and he speaks perfect English with a brilliant sense of humour!

Google vet in bernkastle or pm me.

We are currently at Meersburg at the moment also sitting in a thunderstorm.

We are also heading back next Thursday and will also be going to a vet. We plan to go to Landsberg am lech or bernkastel Kues on Tuesday to a vets there before heading to calais

Also recommend Dr Marx, although he had the audacity to charge us 8 euros for two large dogs

Agree with his sense of humour, but definitely not PC! We found him through Keith Chesterfields excellent vets map.

Probably going to use bernkastel vet but what a marvellous resource the map is. Great having guide price on there .... I hate nasty surprises. Thanks to whoever compiled it .....another marvellous example of caring sharing attitude of funsters.
Thanks for the map are due to @scotjimland :)

Thanks are actually due to @KeithChesterfield who did all the work compiling it, not forgetting those MH owners on both Fun and Facts who took the trouble to send him the information.

Best vet we have ever been too. Very funny as well. You won't go wrong with him.

Just a follow up from our trip to Berkastel Kues to visit Christian Marks.
Very funny guy not like your average vet. Filled in my dogs passort no problem and gave him 1 & half tape worm tablets. My wee whippet also had a tick bite that wasn't good. He gave him an injection and gave us another 2 injections to take away to administer over the next 2 days. Total cost a mere 16 Euro. Tried to give him 20 but he wouldnt accept it. A very funny guy with some amusing stories and he has an obvious dislike of the French border control system.

We also had the pleasure of beating MrsBB to the vets

Very nice to meet MrsBB and her husband Bob. See you next year!

Yes beaten to it but was good to share info and talk to a fellow funster. Also tried a bit of recruiting to another dog owner parked beside us who was unaware of the legendary dr Christian ! 4 euros for Harvey , the jack Russell ( crossed with bengal tiger) whose health check just confirmed a lack of 'tackle' .

We used Christian a couple of years ago, the Brit in front had two rottweilers, "Ah !" says Christian, "the rottweiler, used by the English for hunting jehova's witnesses !"
This year we stopped on the footbridge stelplaze at Zell and used the vet across the river, Adrian Drexler. Two dogs, his tablets and an exam and ointment for a badly swollen/bruised tick bite we had missed on Sky's groin cost €40. No appointment needed, open 10 till 12 and 4 till 6, speaks good English too, asked us if Boris Johnston was for real :D

Is he? Ooh sorry don't do politics !

We used Christian about a week ago. (y)

Did he tell you the joke about the priest.  Bob.

No jokes ..... he just said how he revelled in putting GREAT Britain because it annoyed the French officials at the ports. He's definitely not PC

Not sure of the Lat/Long but his address is Saarallee 14, 54470 Bernkastel-Kues, quite easy to find using Google maps.

If you park in the motorhome parking car park which is the Kues side of the river, first hour is free, Then walk back towards the bridge he is on the other side of the road 300 meters from the entrance. Bob

Cross the bridge from main part of bernkastle and turn left . You can park any size motorhome nearby on a riverside car park .... first hour free ( actually have to pay tho !) just get extra hour added on free. If you then walk back towards bridge it's a large house on the left on the road. Easy to find. Sorry typed this at same time as bob and Janie so have edited ..... can't delete
