We are thinking about visiting the Christmas markets in Germany. We have not done the circuit before and would welcome any info particularly markets with a Stellplatz in the vicinity.

We have to be back by the 14th December for an aged parent birthday.

We are familiar with Germany and think a good place to start would be Trier.

Regards

Don

Hi,

Just thought I would raise this again, Don, did you get a route sorted out, only we could be interested if you have one ??

Trier, has a large Stelplatz just acros the river from the main town, you can walk but it takes about 15/20 mins, The Stelplatz is near the river but there is a large car park which you drive through and a lot of people use this area as its free, the Stelplatz has electric, the bourne ?? don't know the word in German is behind the McDonalds which is at the entrance to the main car park.

Hi Brian,

Should have been in Germany now but had to cancel trip due to a family problem.

We are very familiar with trier have stayed there many times over the years.

The Borne behind MacDonald's is a coach dumping station you can get water there but it's difficult having a dump there. :Eeek:

We usually stay on the car park with many other vans, the Stellplatz belongs to the adjacent camp site where you can get water and dump but it's very tight and the place is only open in the summer. Everything is shut down in the winter.

There's another Stellplatz on the other side of the town, never used it though.

Hi, Don

Sorry to hear about the family problems, we have stayed on the Stelplatz and as you say if you try to go through the campsite it does get very tight??

I was just thinking if anyone was interested in perhaps getting a few vans together and having a "meet" while visiting a few Christmas markets, it would have to be in the next few weeks ?

anyone interested ??
