Hi do most MH use generators when not on EHU or are they frowned upon

Unless you have medical equipment, absolutely no need for an unsociable generator.

Unless of course if you always stop miles from anywhere.

For approx seven months of the year in the U.K. you can mange with solar and suitable battery bank. Depending on how much power you use you may manage all year round with a combination of solar, split charge/B2B. It Varys for everyone, I know people who manage fine and wouldn’t dream of a generator where I end up having to use mine every few days in winter when static to keep battery’s maintained. I am virtually full time in U.K. though

Why are silent running generators painted bright red?....
It's a warning to put ear plugs in.

Even the quietest generators are noisy and obtrusive to other campers and best avoided unless you are camping on your own completely away from anyone else.

What really gets me about folk who use genny's ( medical uses excepted) is they come out.. start genny then go in and watch tv.. oblivious/don't care how much noise their so called "silent running genny's" make.

I bought a second hand ‘genny’ for use as a last resort as I’m aware they aren’t very quiet! I have 2 leisure batteries and 2 solar panels but once killed my batteries (compressor fridge) on a rally when away for a week and the weather was atrocious! Needless to say I’ve never used the thing and will probably end up listing it in the classified section soon!!

Something very amiss with a van setup if you cannot manage 3 nights without running an engine or generator
I guess some have more money then others , that’s why some have all singing and dancing set ups and others buy a 2nd hand generator. All different

I’m not sure that I’d be expecting them to stand next to it watching it do its thing. 🤔

Are you able to tell us what they watched on their TV?

My point was they start genny.. put on telly and watch....with them being in van with volume on telly they will not even hear their own noise making machine outside... what they watching... easy... "crap tv"

Here is mine,

I use it to drown out the noise made by other site users moaning about my kids, barking dog, music etc

Perhaps they’re reluctant to step outside to mingle with judgemental people? 🤷‍♂️

Surely 2 totally different environments... at a motor sport event you expect to hear high reving noisy engines.. on a rally field you don't..
