Just read the post on higher gearing in Ducatos. I cannot understand why the manufacturers do not still give you the choice of having a 3 litre engine as they are still making them for the posh M/H ie Morello etc. The low down torque in these is great. I had a 3 litre PVC and it would pull away in 2nd gear even with the trailer on the back. It was very economical and held higher gears at cruising speeds and if I was in a 50 max limit it would show 42mpg eco and in a 40mph it would show 52 mpg With the tech available now they are a lot less polluting.

Big torque and a timing chain - what's not to like about the 3L engine.

Thanks for telling me I know but the point I am making is that it should still be on offer as it was before in Fiat Ducatos!

My guess is that 3 litre did not meet the emission requirements, my 2015 3 litre is only Class 5+. Also probably cheaper for them to use their own engines rather than buying outside of the group. Morello use Iveco chassis, so they will come with an Iveco engine.

I was told today the VW Amarok is no longer in production, they've done a deal with ford and the ranger as their V6 won't be compliant going forward

A number of non compliant engines will fall by the wayside as we get closer to 2030 , nobody will be putting millions into new complaint engines for such a short period so they'll be sharing engines up to the point they have to go electric

I put 350,000 miles on an Iveco daily pickup with the 3.0 engine towing a 3.5t trailer , never let me down once , still pulled like a train when I sold it

What I liked about it was when you got some numbnuts who thought he'd undertake you from the left turn only lane, when the road was dry and the back empty they'd get a bit of a shock when their car wasn't as quick as they thought it was :D

Not quite fully on topic but I can't resist saying that undertakers should be shot (assuming it is not a 55mph lane hogger in the overtaking lane in which case they should be tortured and then shot).
