Hi team, our van registration plate is simply just that. Does anyone have a definitive answer to the question…..

Do I need a GB sticker or UK sticker displayed on the back of the van for driving in France?

I have a feeling there will be a few different answers…….

Ta 👍

Th UK is the new requirement however few people recognise it yet so if I was going I would put both on

UK is the legal one now. I have both on my van as I bought it just before the change over. (Although looking below I shouldn't have o_O )

From https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers

Driving outside the UK

If your number plate includes the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a UK sticker.

However, you will need to display a UK sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following:

a GB identifier with the Union flag
a Euro symbol
a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales
numbers and letters only - no flag or identifier
If you’re in Spain, Cyprus or Malta, you must display a UK sticker no matter what is on your number plate.

If you have a GB sticker, cover or remove it before driving outside the UK.

Thanks team, that’s about what I reckon, it also look as if I can have a SCO and Saltire Flag on the back too….yay👍

UK.

Just returned from 2 weeks over there ...only UK drivers bother to plaster stickers all over their cars.

I did what all the other nationalities do, and get number plates with a UK symbol printed on them

UK on the number plate is fine apart from Spain & Malta where you need a UK sticker.
But I'm going to take my UK sticker off fed up with people in Spain including expats asking where we are from.

Got those as well ;)
If you are on a site with Dutch folk they seem to like to know where you are travelling from.
Not sure I have ever been on a site without at least some Dutch other than during covid

When I can find one I am going to put a White/Black GB sticker on my Polish-registered MH, 'cos I am from Great Britain, so there.

It is no longer valid so no rule broken.

If anyone has one spare please let me know.

That’s the confusion, some websites including Amazon are still saying GB sticker 😳

I don't think Blighty is "Great" and I really don't think the UK is "United" so I've got "Portugal" on the back of my van...

JJ
And rightly so....,😃😃👍

I might even stick an ÉCOSSE sticker on the back too so that no one confuses us with being from Tenerife 😳🙂
