Afternoon everyone.

Went for a run in the van the other day and thought I would top up the 2 13kg bottles with external filler.
Last time I filled up was in June and have been using gas from 1 bottle at various festivals and other trips ever since.
(Bottle 1 hasn’t run out yet and bottle 2 not been used)

Gas has been used for fridge, cooking and hot water.

The lady at my filling station connected up and managed to get 1 litre in (60p) and said it was full. Tried disconnecting and filling again but nothing.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Not sure if there is any type of non return valve which could be stuck or the van hardly uses any gas!

Any advice gratefully received.

To be honest I'd try a different garage to fill up and see if they have more luck.

If you've used what you consider a reasonable amount of gas in the last few months then there should be more gas going in.

We had a similar problem in France a couple of years ago and at the second filling station it filled okay - about 25 litres if I remember correctly.

?

My guess is that the overfill prevention float is stuck closed
Try waggling the bottle to encourage it to drop down
I’d also suggest trying to fill at another garage in case it’s a fault with the pump

Did you let go of the fill button and re press.
It took me ages to put 5litres in............. then revaluation.....I let go, pressed the button again, and nearly 30 litres filled both cylinders in approx 90 seconds ?

Tried pressing the button again then disconnected and refitted and no more went in.

I will give them a wack with a mallet and see if that helps.
Thanks everyone.

I had the same problem and it took three visits to different garages to get a full tank, the last was a fuel depot. Returning recently from Croatia I tried filling - up before I entered Italy, first garage was 'Self-Service' No Joy; second Station required the Staff to operate the pump and came away with a full tank.

I think the 'Self Service Pumps' suffer a lot from misoperation and therefore don't operate as they should, proberbly confused, if that is possible!

Also, we use a lot less 'gas' than we think we have used. In my case, less than a 13kg bottle over eight weeks.

I too had this problem some time ago and took them back to Gaslow. They checked everything (everything) and then replaced the lot. New bottles and all the pipes and other bits, the lot. They took my word about the filling problem. No charge but I did lose most of the gas I think.
They kept cups of tea coming while they worked....great company!

There is also a one way valve on the filling input that could be sticking.
Garage pumps do play up had one where I gave up at 25lt as it had taken over 20 Min, guy in the garage said nothing wrong with there pump, taxi driver behind me said it had been like it for a week.

Don’t do this please ⚠
Pm me and I will give you the telephone number to speak with Martin at Gaslow .
The valves don’t stick .
I would just tap them with your hand, I do this and the gauge settles a bit
Don't use a mallet

I had this problem after filling in France ,it was overfilled inadvertently due to their pumping rate. So every time I filled I was actually just overfilling hence only one litre and cuts off. Run one bottle down and once in the red do the same with the other then refill and mine has been perfect since.

It might just be that everything is fine. We didn't have to fill up for 12 months. We typically are on hookup but obviously use the gas for fridge, heating and water periodically. Found the fridge takes very little but the heating can drain very quickly (a long weekend if running continuously) but if you havent used the gas much for heating or water then it might just be that you havent actually used much at all. Keep an eye on it. Perhaps run the heating when you have hook up as a back up and see what you can get in then?

Try another garage.
I had the same problem, posted on here at the time, one bottle showed it was nearly empty, the other one was turned off and full. Having connected at the pump it only took about £1.75 worth of gas, thought it was me, others suggested the gas bottle indicators on Gaslow bottles are not that accurate.
Drove it to another garage next time out and it filled up as it should, I like Shell Autogas stations, their pumps always seem to be in good condition and have the large rubber mushroom to protect my hands when disconnecting.

There may be nothing wrong I did the same went weeks without filling up then thought I better fill so went to the pump and got a huge £2.10 in the lady on the counter said it was the lowest sale should could recall ?

We had exactly the same issue. At forst thought there was a problem with the pump, after trying 3 different garages/pumps it turned out even after 4 weeks away using gas for cooking we had only used less than 3ltrs. We are really surprised how little gas we use.

I have JUST refilled for the first time since we left Spain in March..
Several cold days and nights ( at a guess 40 or 50 when the heating has gone on ), no hook up apart from 3 nights, all cooking and heating by gas, managed to get 18 litres of as in
