Have a Mirage 5000, bought in September 2019. 2004 model.

For the initial purchase and last year had a hab check done by selling dealers in Warminster.

I decided not to go down that route this year and took the van to a company to check the gas.

They came back to me stating that couldn't do the gas check as regulator (to bottle) is out of date. It is dated 2003 and should be replaced every 5 years.

Also stated that gas tank is out of date (date on unit is 2004-2014).

I want to go back to dealer that sold me van to ask how they managed to complete the gas checks in this case but wanted to get view of others before doing this.

Company that won't do gas check due to out of date equipment is a Caravan and motorhome servicing centre so can't see that they are trying it on but want to gather my thoughts before approaching dealer!

Thoughts anyone?

Not an expert on the regulation & law, but my Truma regulator is best replaced every 10 years.
The rubber pigtails every 5years
For fixing an issue, I replaced the regulator early and went for a steel based pigtail.
IIRC, I can now hope for a maximum of 10years of life on both parts.
My gas 'journey' How to troubleshoot all gas appliances stopping prematurely?

1. Does you're hab service check sheets state a gas check was carried out?

2. Might be worth checking on the NCC Web pages what they recommend is the best practice for a hab service including the gas system.

Will check, although I am pretty sure that checking the gas was part of the initial hab check at least.

might be worth doing a bit of trawling...:X3:

email the service manager at Warminster, say your just sorting out your next Hab check, and ask how much and what exactly is included and what specifically is checked with the gas and 240 electrics.
then you have their own interpretation so you will know how to push this.

Nice one. Sounds like a plan.

There response was that

"A habitation check goes through the entire workings of the inside of the van, including electrical system, gas check and full damp check."

I will go back to them tomorrow and ask how they have put the van through a hab check in 2019 & 2020 when the regulator to bottle and the fixed gas tanks are out of date!
