Gas bottle locker, location pins

There are a number of white plastic lugs forming two circles in my Autocruise 164 gas locker, I assume they are to locate and secure the base of the gas bottle before strapping. The bottles do not fit either inside or outside the lugs and the bottles move considerably even when the strapping is tight (Because the base is not level, the gas bottle being partly inside and partly on top of some of the plastic lugs). Has anyone else experienced this problem and have they moved the locators to fit (requires drilling inside the locker to a secure base) or have they just removed them and relied upon the strapping)

obviously fitted for a diffent size bottle i would remove and replace where they will work
