I received my Funster sticker just prior to my current trip which started about ten days ago, having travelled part U.K.,France,Belgium and currently at Bad Duerkheim Germany I have so far spotted not a single Funster, however, I am not disheartened for l now believe we form part of a rarefied club something of the order one might find in Knightsbridge, very special indeed.

I got to thinking if a Thread was started and supported by other Funsters they might when on a overnight stop or campsite or wherever that they will support Motorhome Fun through the thread and purposely have a look for the Funster sticker and add the find to this thread ie: Littlewheels met Brigette Bardot in Cannes ( l wish)

Funsters might add other relative info to the Spotted comment and it should hopefully encourage more of us to look out for each other.

Should our Leader Jim not agree to this please remove.

I hope to post again soon when I spot a Funster:)

Only ever seen one other sticker, was parked behind us but didn’t see the owners all weekend. Got up on the last day and they were gone!

On site, off site ?

There’s already a ‘spotted’ section......

Well that pretty much sums it up a couple of off beat comments, one that was spotted but ignored and another that rightly informs me it’s already been done but I’ve never seen it.

I think it’s a good indication of what Fun’s about! Currently 196 looks and 4 comments and lots of people peaking from the bushes and contributing nothing. A solid group that contribute whenever and wherever possible and I reckon if it wasn’t for these great contributors as good a number that Fun have it would die pretty quickly, just saying.

I wasn't going to comment because the observation has been made before. Only a fraction of MH owners in the UK belong to MHF so it is rare to meet another Funster by chance.

From memory I've only come across about half a dozen or so in the last six years. But amost all of those meetings weren't by chance but arose from posting on here about a current trip and discovering people in the same area.

So if you want to meet Funsters tell us where you are not where you've been. Photos of food and dogs always go down well here. :)

I do go up to people and chat if I see a funster sticker!
I even knocked on a door in France( shock horror!) of an Irish plate MH , Met a lovely couple playing music and they said they weren’t Funsters and wondered what the smiley sticker was as it was on the van already when they bought it!!
Hope you meet up with some soon .
Some Funsters don’t display the sticker , however we do as I say I’m a funster loud and proud!!?

I’ve been spotted and had a nice chat with a Funsters at Canterbury Park and Ride but I also spotted a Funsters sticker on a van in France and it took me about half an hour to get away form the most boring people I’ve ever met, It turns out the sticker was on the van when they bought it so be careful what you wish for LOL.

I wonder if people just say that so we can’t find out their funster name?!!?

I have never met one of you face to face, sticker or not, but my limited experience of meeting UK folk traveling across Europe has always been positive, but its always me that seems to say the first hello...

I must get a sticker, and if any of you see it, if you love me or loath me, there will be a warm welcome for any of you - so don't be shy.

Does anyone else find that young people nowadays never smile and say Hello in the street .... especially the further South I go. :( We all talk to each other, strangers or not, oop North.

Don't worry, it will soon be like that oop norf. Give it a few years once social media sets in and more folk oop norf can read and write. ???

Been on a few Fun rallies now, Stickers & Flags on every van, even long 6/7mtr light poles have become the rage, like a bloody discotheque everywhere and the faster they flash the better they like em.
If you get a knock on your door after 10PM or before 10AM ignore it, as they just want your booze, or they smell the bacon in the morning.
If your hard of hearing you will be fine, if not take some ear muffs as they do Karaoke at any opportunity, or get a few drinks down you before entering, then it sounds a lot better.
Dont enter the "friendly quizzes" its a war I tell you, they google the answers under the table, and downgrade your marks when they mark your score card, anything to win.
If you have any decent wine with you, leave it in the van, dont take it into the Funster Tent for sharing, as they all have wine boxes, and drink weird flavours of Gin cos they know you like Gordons original.
If you haven't got a pooch on yer hip, or in your handbag, or even in a kiddies pram, the you wont have much to talk about, other than how are your leisure batteries holding out? or what payload have you got on that tag axle? so take a few books or DVD's.

So looking out for Fun Stickers has its pro's but equally its con's, be careful out there, some of em bite, their dogs can also:D

But would I miss them, bloody right, love em all, and whoever it might concern....its your round cos I got them in last year!

Hugs to all me mates out there.

I think that is a bit unfair. Would you put yourself in that "solid group that contribute whenever and wherever possible" I wonder ...............................

Printing the 'smiley' again, as other one I had went blowin' down the road. (Yes, printing and then cutting it out)....:D I shall actively seek out others :wasntme:. I aint shy, i'll come a knocking to say "A-up".

I’m not sure quite what you mean by this comment I do think that the Slawarts of whom there are many make a very important contribution to the Forum and it’s in many ways thanks to their input generally and often that helps the Forum roll along in the friendly way that it does.

Personally I post where I can help or offer a little guidance from my experience and I ask for the same on occasion as most do but I respect the order of posting and that of the contributors whom I would place in the bracket I mention above.

Furthermore, at least my last post generated more comments and it’s clear that some folk have met and chatted, the Rallies are not for everyone but once you pay your subscription you’re a Funster and the concept of the Sticker is to be recognised as one I merely suggested a simple way to observe that Funsters say hello whilst out and about.

The vast majority I guess will not have a sticker and will remain anonymous but for those that do the purpose is surely to be recognised by fellow forum contributors as I said previously it’s a rarefied club and we will certainly not be bumping into each other often if at all.

If you head down the Mosel now you will be falling over funster vans just look for the empty beer bottles outside the vans

My comment was not about stickers at all. I have a sticker and I always try to introduce myself (some would say impose) when I see someone else with one.

My comment was only about the paragraph I quoted, i.e. your complaint that not many people had contributed to this thread when compared with those that read it, which I think was unfair to those, like me, that had read it but chose not to add anything, because, in my case, others had already covered what I would wish to say. However, I do comment when I think I have something to say, as can be seen by the number of posts I have made.

We did see one in France a couple of weeks ago.
Passed on the road going in opposite directions on a junction, with things going on didn’t have the opportunity to wave!

We have a sticker on our m/h but, in the six years we have been members, have only met two other people displaying the sticker. We have also spotted another two parked up but were unable to meet the owners.

We have recently returned from 7 weeks touring France and Northern Spain and only talked to two other British outfit owners.

It turned out that one couple, met on an Aire, were from a village three miles from ours and the other, met at Tournon-sur-Rhône, were from a village four miles away from ours.

What are the odds!

(By the way, we are not antisocial but tend to stay off the beaten track, hence the lack of Brits met during our trip).

I’d talk to you Joy, even though we are from dahn sahf, Londoners but live in Suffolk.
Keep well.
