Hi all

Does anyone know why this might be happening. I have a Dometic AES fridge/freezer. Sometimes it is temperamental, and i have to switch on and off again on gas. However, this weekend, the freezer got down to temperature, and stayed there, but the fridge did not, the fins are normal temperature. I tried switching on and off again.

I am confused. I would have thought if one part works so would the other.

If the fins inside the fridge compartment are not getting cold it is possible that the thermal paste that is behind them needs replacing.
If you scroll down the forums to Motorhome mechanical and technical /Fridges and ovens there is information about this same problem on a Thetford fridge.

The cooling circuit is no doubt working fine. At the back of the fridge, the cooling pipe touches the finned plate, and transfers the cooling power to it. The plate is supposed to be firmly clamped to the pipes, and also there is a thermally conductive paste to fill any air gaps and provide a better path for the cooling to take place. The clamps can work loose and the paste can dry out.
