Hi Guys, currently pestering the nice, friendly people of Wales. On this trip we have noticed that the fridge (Domestic RMSL 8500) will not "have a rest" and continues to run with the burner full on. This is the case whether or not the sun is shining or not. Has anyone have any ideas please?

We had a similar fridge and had to turn the fridge to minimum for it to work correctly

I wonder if the thermostat is faulty or if it's become detached from the cooling fins ?
Is the burner making a roaring noise, or is the flame a bit yellowish, you could have a blocked jet that isn't letting enough gas through to cool things ?
There's a slim chance that the gas solenoid valve is jammed open, but these usually "fail safe" into the closed position ?
If you take the bottom vent cover off, you could try tapping it with the plastic handle of a screwdriver (it'll be on the gas line from the burner, a small cylindrical device about 15mm diameter and 20mm long) ?

Have you tried turning the control down a little. ?

What sort of temperature is it outside?if it’s very warm your fridge will be struggling to stay cool?🤔
Another thought and not trying to teach you to suck eggs, are the seals on the door good as it doesn’t take much to let in warm air, although the fridge alarm would probably be sounding?

Think this might help perhaps try turning it to bottom setting to see if it will turn off if it doesn’t sounds like fridge stat on the blink👍

Other option is to completely turn it off for a few minutes and then start again perhaps it just need a reboot?

Tried turning off and right down still have the problem. What is a fridge stat? Sounds expensive? I don't normally break things with my screwdriver so can they be purchased so I could replace?

Branston The Dometic service manual for the 8 series fridges states -when the temperature sensor is defective the fridge will operate permanently-
This is the sensor that is inside the fridge and should be fitted on the lower left side of the cooling fins that are at the back of the inside of the food cabinet. (as said before, check it is still in place)
This sensor sends information regarding fridge internal temperature to the fridge thermostat control.
There is a lot of information relating to the Dometic 8 series fridge that you may find useful in the Manuals for Motorhome Stuff section of Resources that is on the top line of this page.

If the fridge stat was broken, wouldn’t the fridge be exceptionally cold?

What fridge temperature have you got?

To all the funsters who came to my aid. A few miles of travel and a few bumps in the road and fridge is working normally again!!
Next time it happens I'll be asking where all the bumpy roads are! Thanks a lot guys and gals.

Bet that fridge gremlin you dropped off is now just stood there, waiting by the bumpy roadside to jump aboard the next MH that passes by
