Is there anyone out there with a French dog passport. Last time we came to France Casper had a new blood test after the original one 8 years ago would no longer be accepted after B****t.
He was then issued with a French passport. When we arrived at the pets check in at the tunnel they would not accept his new passport and we used his UK one.
I have been back to our French vet this morning and they insist that all French dog passports are filled in as Casper’s is.
Can someone confirm for me that on page 6, No 2 on a French passport it shows Date de lecture not date d’implantation de transponder.
Hopefully I have attached photos.

Yup, date they 'read' the existing chip ... they've crossed out the 'implantation' bit in the French bit, but not the English so judicial use of a pen to cross out 'application' in the English bit will probably sort it out as I suspect with it not being done it was open to 'personal interpretation'!

It can’t be altered as they seal that page with a plastic stick on.

She showed me that as far as she was concerned it should be the same as his UK passport. I wasn’t in a position to argue as I didn’t know what was correct. She said that if it was not altered I would have a problem each time we travel. I assume that as our French vet has no intention of changing it then I will show them his old passport if required.

Nothing to do with B****t. As long as Caspers rabies booster have been kept up todate with no gaps in his passport, his existing titre test will still be valid (presumably you've still have the certificate?).

You have obviously spoken to a different soul than the one I spoke to at DeFRA. They confirmed that his original blood test would not stand, as at that time there was only 21 days between rabies injection and test. The requirement now is 30 days. Our UK vet said she would not be able to complete the health certificate that will be required each time we travel, as one question is ‘was there 30 days between injection and test’.
I’m not arguing with anyone about this as I’m sure each query gets a different answer depending on the soul at the end of the phone. All I want is no hassle at Calais.

Isn't the problem that the French vet didn't implant the chip, so can only certify to having read it?

We haven't got around to getting a French passport for the dog to replace her UK passport, but our two French cats have them. I've just looked, and in one the vet has crossed out the 'lecture' bit, and the other neither have been crossed out. But in both cases, the vet did the implanting of the chip.

I thought it was 30 days when we brought our to to Spain 17 years ago?I cannot check as am not in Spain at the moment.

That is another reason I use the ferries. Too fussy at the tunnel.

What was the reason they refused the French passport? If it was just that then any time you had a new UK passport it would theoretically read the same as the vet hadni implanted it just read it.

It was definitely 21days, he’s on his third passport and I have checked the first one. The second passport is the same as the first, the date of application not date of reading. As it was the same vet in UK that issued his second one then he could confirm date of application, it follows that the French vet could only read it and not confirm date of application.
It sounds like the Eurotunnel lady either didn’t understand or was having a bad day. I will try again when we return home, armed with more knowledge than on our last journey.

DEFRA have emailed me paperwork to show to the vet. It seems that the date that is incorrect needs to be prior to the date of his blood test, otherwise there is no proof that the blood came from Casper. I now understand but I have to get past the receptionist and speak to the vet.
It has been over 40 degrees today so it was ideal weather to hose him down and shampoo him. It’s only when he’s wet that we realise how thin he is getting.

Ah, I see, we have still got the older versions so not had to get a new one yet.
