The photo below (should) show what I mean. I'd like to remove some of mine to clean the areas underneath that they cover eg the Alde radiator fins which get dust and hair trapped in them.
I tried to remove one but fiound it stubborn and wondered if they were fitted with barbs at the side to prevent them working loose. So if I pried too hard they might break away the the surrounding bit of floor?
Has anyone tried this successfully?

My advice would be not to bother - try blowing the dust out with an air line or something - you'd be gutted if you damaged your floor or the fins.

I too clean areas no one sees so I totally get why you want to - just makes you feel better doesn't it.

They are extremely resistant to being pried up!

Mine are exactly the same and just need to be carefully pulled out, I put a thin piece of plastic down and use a screwdriver so not to damage the floor

Panel trim removal tools from eBay at £2.99 could be helpful and won’t damage the floor
Or if in a hurry a stolen plastic kitchen spatula, sharpened if necessary, works really well. I can confirm they are simply clipped in place. With very firm clips.

Thanks all. I'll give the plastic load spreader a go and get at that pesky dust behind the louvre.
(Certain observers take note that it's not that I have too much time but travelling with a cleanoholic and it's rubbing off!)

Thanks to all. I tried prying it up gently along it's longer side, spreading the load with a broad blade and it did eventually come out, despite the glue holding it in place. There are ribs along the longer sides which grip the floor when in situ and it is these and the glue that present the resistance to bring pried out.
Cleaned off all the heating pipe fins underneath and hoovered off all the hair and dust. The louvres went back in place perfectly.

(Better to be on the safe side, in case there's a snap visit from the cleanliness inspector.)

Has anyone experience of getting shepherds pie out of these louvres?

Have a dog - but he needs longer, thinner tongue.
