Arrived home last night after our 1st proper holiday in the Knaus Haus.

Week one, west coast of France into Spain, week two at our apartment in Spain and week three coming back up the east coast of Spain and eastern France. The conclusion is we love, motorhomes, so much so that we have let out our Spanish apartment on a long term let.

We did a mix of Aires, campsites booked through pitchup.co.uk and one night on a French motorway service station (never again). Highlights included a campsite on a French farm with space for 60 where we were the only clients. It was so peaceful, and the owners couldn't have been friendlier. An aire in the middle of nowhere, advertised as space for 10, which ended up with 16 motorhomes of various sizes crammed in for the night. French and Spanish motorways are awesome. Most importantly I didn't have to wear socks for a whole 3 weeks.

We were very worried about covid precautions and that they might scupper the trip, but they didn't. Eurotunnel folkestone to Calais was very straightforward, they only checked us for gas bottles being switched off. Uploading the return docs took a bit of time and getting through customs on the way back took about 45 mins. Everywhere in France was hot on the pass sanitaire nobody in Spain ever asked us for anything.

There were no British at any of the places we stayed, loads of Dutch, Belgians and Germans and even some Swedes. But clearly us Brits are doing the staycation thing.

We loved the trip, loved getting to know the Knaus (there is still one switch that I have no clue what it does), loved France and its Aires.

Next trip - Holland.

Sounds as if you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

Can you tell me what the pass sanitare is please? We’re going over on the tunnel tonight and don’t know about this. We are double jabbed and have certificates to prove this which is all we thought we needed. We have the declaration de honner as well.

It is proof of your vaccinations. By all accounts you can upload the NHS one to the french app.

You need to download the French Tous Covid app. Once you have that you upload your proof of vaccines into the app. Every cafe, restaurant and campsite asked us for it, a couple of shops did. Obviously not required for Aires.

You can get the app from the App store on I phone or the play store on android.

Unless your from Wales, at present there is no vaccination app proof.
I believe Scotland has just released one.

Still planning our way down south later this month. Site recommendations would be helpful. (y)

Hopefully driving out to our apartment in Spain end of October.. have thought about renting it out for about 5 mins then shivered and said nope..
Like to mix it up with a couple of nights wild camping in the way down.
Stay in the apartment and few nights wild camping on the return..

Hopefully no test by the time we return 🤞🏼

We're planning a similar trip down to our apartment for a few days to do some essential maintenance close to the border with Portugal for a month from mid October but subject to getting the third jab and flu vaccine before we go! If the weather is good plan to travel slowly back up the eastern coast of Spain then quickly head through France for home. Likewise hoping the PCR test will be firmly scrapped by mid-November.
