Coming to the end of a 4 week trip around France, before leaving my better half done lots of googling on wether France was dog friendly and it appeared that it was.Se we set of on our first trip abroad with the most important member travelling with us our 7 year old Schitzu.

Wow how the rules change around the country. Some areas welcome dogs on public transport, some don,t , some allow them in cafes restaurants some don’t , some allow them in shops and some don’t.

The only consistant we found is they don,t pick up their dog’s shit which may explain why the strange rules.

In Wimeroux dogs aren’t allowed on the promenade, never mind the beach! But welcomed in restaurants.

6 weeks into a tour of France and yes, despite local authorities providing numerous poo bag dispensers, it appears many of the French consider it beneath themselves to pick up their dog shit. It does raise that probably uniquely English quandary of how much of other peoples dog poo do you pick up when yours has done it on top - not an unusual occurrence in our experience here.
I wonder if it’s just an on street thing, an attitude of somebody else’s ( the state’s) problem, or does it extend to their own garden as well?
Perhaps it’s a mindset linked to those weird squat toilets they still persist in providing?!!!

Wife always moans about all nationalities not picking up. Presently in italy, very dog friendly but on most public transport they have to be muzzled, but no one really policing it apart from when you get on board.
